I love elegushi beach. It is a really nice place to relax and have fun with friends and family. There lots of bars there and restaurants too.

Very good music and club options, not so much about food, but the party, the girls all available in excess. Just be careful not to get stuck with the girls and keep your wallet close by.

The beach was dirty. Debris all over the place. Considering that this is not a public beach and you pay good money to rent a station/shelter, it should be better maintained.

Before you continue reading this, note that I was here just some days after the boxing day, so you expect thousands of lagosians rushing down here? Yes! You need to pay 1,000 Naira per person to get in, and I was with my partner - so we paid 2,000. Was it worth it? I think no, the beach should be more organized than this, and foods are expensive, imagine a 5 Alive Juice pack is been sold for 1,000 Naira. We asked for sea foods other than fish, none of the food sellers do have! If you are planning to come during festive period, do not come in your personal car, so you can quickly get out - there are tricycles popularly called "keke marwa" in Lagos that can take you from the beach to the nearest bus stop. Would not want to be here again as a couple, nevertheless if you are thinking of coming - get here at 1pm and leave at 3pm. I think is more of a party venue than a relaxation spot.

I still do not understand why this location retains the caption of a 'beach'!! Frankly, it is more of a sandy park than a beach. My family and I attended a friend's birthday part at the location, and from the entrance were large warnings not to go into the water nor to swim. a casual look shows the various large boulders brought in to keep the sea away (erosion control), and several littering of broken bottle, food packs, and human wastes of various forms (urgghh).Several wooden and make-shift 'joints 'promise alcohol ,food, pepper soup, and assortment of snacks. Loud music from each of the shacks compete for airwave dominance, creating noise with familiar musical tones. Was I impressed, No! would I go here again, No. If hanging out is the theme, then there are better locations for that; if beach is the idea, than Elegushi 'beach' is not one.Do not forget that you will have to pay to pack your car, adults pay separately, while children are charged differently for access. We spent at least 2 hours driving from the major access road to the beach, owing to very narrow road, and poor traffic management processes.

The beach was OK but beware of broken glass when walking down to the waters edge. The waves can be VERY strong and children should be accompanied at all times.

I visited Elegushi twice this holiday season. Unlike my last visit some 4 years ago, the road had bean paved so access was muh easier, but unlike that visit 4 years ago the beach was filthy. There was actually more garbage than sand in some parts. Like others have said, we had to pay to park, pay entrance and pay for seats even if we were buying food. My first visit this holiday was on a Saturday and it was very crowded. Despite all of the above we still had a good time as we were in a fun group and the music and food were good. My second visit was on a weekday and much earlier in the day so it was far less crowded and also much cleaner, so it made for a much more plesant experience. We also brought our own food, mats and seats this time so spent far less and had a lovely time with friendsThis is a privately owned beach with tons of potential. I just hope they do some developing with all that money they take from you. First step should be to put some bins out and set fines for littering, then get some cleaners to come out at regular intervals

Easy to locate from the round aboutEntrance fee per head circa $6= Naira 1000A large number of touts at entrance can be intimidatingBetter to go as a group. The beach front was not rowdy, nice beach line Some merchant hawk their goodsYou have to pay for everything

nomad340

nice beach, cool air felt good since it was so hot, the speed boat was a little frightening but exhilarating at the same time. Beach was not crowded and the shade provided was welcomed merchants trying to sell their wares was a little pesky but not annoyingly so

Nwaezuoke

the whole stuff is more about money and less about fun, cos everything needs money (exorbitant) and the touts around only seek was to collect money from you, the only way to enjoy the beach is to go as a big group and carry a lot of money!

As the other reviews say, it's not your typical beach experience. So much hassle here. On the plus side, lots of decent bars and restaurants. Some good food available (once you've negotiated between all the options) Main section of the beach is safe but be VERY CAREFUL about going further down in either direction. Robberies happen here...

A very insecure dispiriting place full of dodgy characters and the strong stench of danger. Not recommended at all.

Loved it all. one can retreat to a quiet area if the party area are not your scene. Lovely music pulsating from different directions. Comfortable seats and great grilled food - fish, beef, salads and lots of drinks including fresh coconuts. Souvenirs available on sale but you must be a killer bargainer or you will be taken for a ride.

The first time we came here was during the week and the beach was empty. Our okada was stopped and we were asked to pay the entrance fee of 1000 naira. The quards jumped from their hut in such agressive way that my nigerian friend decided it was better to leave. Since the beach was empty, we left asap which was the right thing to do. Once they see a white person coming, their eyes start counting dollars and if we had entered the beach that day, the guards would have called all their friends / area boys of the area to collect money from us and maybe take our belongings. So it is NOT a good idea to visit the beach when it's empty. We went there again on a Sunday in a group. Its better to go in a group if you are white. Still, we experienced a lot of hassle. Many people ask money from you. Apart from the entrance fee there are some area boys expecting money and to be able to sit somewhere you need to pay as well. We spent more than an hour negotiating prices / tips and where we should sit. Everyone wants you to sit in their coffee shop of course. There are a lot of sellers and men with horses and the cafes play high music so you wont have a quiet moment on this beach. There were a lot of waves and the sea can be very unpredictable. The best thing to do is to stand in the water and just enjoy the waves. The water was warm and pretty clean. It was very nice to be in the water after all the hassle. The place itself is very beautiful and I enjoyed my day. But it's a pity that the sellers are so aggressive and you get tired of discussing about prices with them. You might end up paying a lot of tips to them all day long if you dont have someone with you who can negotiate for you.
