A special diarama of the temple is available for visitors to be able to appreciate the inside of the temple. Definitely a cool deal to check out, whether you are a member or not. Also, you can watch the "Meet the Mormons" 118 min movie.

The temple is beautiful, people were helpful and kind in the visitor center. Flowers and grounds were impeccable and was a welcomed quiet from the busy of DC

The lights at the LDS Temple and Visitor's Center are spectacular! Every night during December, they have some cultural event going on! Plenty of parking, helpful staff, a good family tradition during Christmas-time!

Our Mormon Temple in Kensington, Maryland sits right beside the Beltway, Rt. 495, just before the split between VA and Rt 270 and further north into Maryland. It is lit up at night, so drivers can easily see it as they drive by. A golden Gabriel is blowing his horn from the topmost spire. The visitor's center and the fantastic trees can be visited between 10 am and 9 pm and the display runs from 1 December to 1 January. It is possible to just drive around to see the trees alone at Christmas, without having to get out of your car and walk anywhere. On the night that my group visited the visitor's center, we listened to a wonderful group singing, then viewed miniature crèches from all over the world. There are also decorated trees, live guides, and various information about the Mormons and the temple itself. Outside there is another large crèche, with a loudspeaker story, as well as the huge number of trees to view--some decorated with gold lights, and others with every other color of the rainbow. It is truly spectacular. We were told that the volunteers start putting up these lights the 1st of September and that there are 500,000 lights. The temple itself is used only for special events---funerals, births, dedications, weddings. For a spectacular way to view holiday lights, visit this site. Prepare to be dazzled.

The lights around the visitor's center are amazing. The Christmas tree and nativity displays inside are very nice. They have many different Christmas musical groups performing in the theater.

This visitors center is a fantastic place to visit if you are in the DC area and gives you the chance to walk around the DC temple which is an amazing sight. We missed the chance to take the transportation that is available during the week (free shuttle pick up from the metro, read about this on line) so we rode to the closest metro and then took a cab to the temple. We were able to take a cab back to the metro without incident. The workers in the center were so informative and helpful and as always its fantastic to read about families and ways to find the joy and happiness that can exist when values and principles are brought into the home.

We got married at the tempeh in May. The visitor center is a great place where you can learn more about how families can be together forever

You won't actually get inside the temple unless you are a devout Mormon. A large visitors center outside the temple has a movie theater and hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights. During the month of December they open their doors so the public can view about 50+ Christmas trees and a huge assortment of nativity scenes. There are a lot of free concerts during that month. Every where you look there is some smiling person eager to tell you about Mormonism. It is soft sell and not intrusive. The best time to visit is during the last few days after Christmas. The huge crowds are gone.

I am a member of the LDS church, and I loved going to this visitors center. I loved the Joseph Smith movie that played in the theater. I loved the beautiful paintings, the numerous videos, the displays, etc. There was so much to do there, and it is really geared towards people who aren't members of our church. This center does such a fabulous job of teaching others what Mormons believe and the type of people we are. The best part of visiting this center, though, is being able to see the temple. Walking the temple grounds and gazing at the temple in all its majesty is an experience you will never forget. Please visit. You will be so glad you did.

We have visited this site twice and been very impressed both times. The displays inside are informative and inspiring. There is information on Jesus Christ, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, genealogy, and more. The grounds are kept beautifully and are very enjoyable to explore.

Many locals compare the look of this temple to that of Disneyland. I would agree, especially true at night. Also, potential visitors should know that this temple is associated with the church of ladder day saints (Mormon) faith.

If you like Christmas lights this is a great place to go. You cannot enter the temple itself but it looks impressive from the outside. The visitors center has various holiday decor and exhibits. The grounds have different Christmas light displays. There are also free musical concerts that you can attend.

Just to drive by this location is amazing and breathe taking. The grounds are well kept and pristine. The LDS Temple visitors center has beautiful displays inside. The Cristus exhibit is a great place to feel the peace that comes with knowing The Savior. The attendants there are full of great information. This site shouldn't be overlooked with your DC sightseeing!

This time of the year the gorgeous variety of flowers and trees are just stunning! Just to be able to walk the grounds and see them is quite worth the trip there. You can park your car in the parking lot and walk all around. The azaleas are stunning right now. Don't wait too long because they don't last forever. Worth the trip! Taking a picnic lunch along would be an added bonus. The Rock Creek Park is just a matter of 3 - 4 minutes drive.
