toby's dinner theatre

I went to see The Addams Family at Toby's for my mom's birthday last Sunday and it was brilliant. The food was brunch and it was like always mediocre at best. I like the dinner because you get these rolls which are so delicious! The show was so funny and the boy who was Pugsley (The brother of another recurring child actor at Toby's) was great! I loved Lurch the butler (Who was Mr. Banks in Mary Poppins) because he was so cute. Our server played Wednesday and she was awesome! I would go see the Addams Family again.

Really enjoyed Memphis! Great show. The food was great. I love how the stage is the center of attraction. Thank you for offering a Military Discount.

We have been to Toby's many times and have always enjoyed the food the performance and getting to know our waiter/actor!

We have been patrons of Toby's for nearly 30 years and have never been disappointed in the show, the dinner, the staff, or the crowd. While we usually share the night out with family members or friends, on occasion we have gone as a couple and have been paired with other couples also there by themselves and each time we have enjoyed talking with and exchanging stories throughout dinner and intermission. The buffet corresponds to the showing, and is always fresh, hot and plentiful. Dessert includes an ice cream bar and choice of two or three featured cakes or cheesecakes. Parking is plentiful and though there is always a line to get in, it moves quickly. Season ticket packages are the best value since they don't offer discount coupons like they did years back. One recommendation ... request a "chair on the floor" ... you'll really be "in the round" then and just steps away from the entertainment.

For dining & entertainment this place is a must!!!! A dinner buffet served with more food of all sorts of variety than imaginable. And ALL of it very tasty. The waiters/waitress' are the same whom have roles in the play-which is comical w/ the twist of musical performances. Perfect seating no matter where you are placed and the cost is next to nothing for all you receive. I"ll definitely be returning before I leave this area. A lasting impression as for a musical/ theatrical show is-HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

My wife and I went here a couple of weeks ago. We took advantage of a deal which was "buy one..get one half off".We have been here several times before. When you arrive, you can be sure that you will stand in a line for 15 minutes in order to pick up your pre-ordered tickets, unless you arrive late or very early, when the line might be shorter. There are 2 ticket windows, but only one window issues tickets for the current performance. The meal is always acceptable. Nothing fancy, but everything is tasty and it looks nice. You have a choice of 2 desserts, which are brought to the table.The show was Pirates of Penzance. Even though we could only understand about half of the words, we could appreciate the fine acting and singing. Perhaps the hearing would have been improved if there wasn't a constant drone from the air conditioning system. They also have a small live orchestra, which is rare at any theater today. There is at least a 30-minute intermission between the first and second act. I wish it were closer to 15 minutes, but I suppose the long intermission is needed in order for the servers to deliver drinks, settle the customer's accounts, and fulfill any other requests. Even though the meal is a buffet, you still have a server who brings you drinks and dessert. The servers are also actors in the show, and they are very busy. As a result, the service isn't real good, but if you are lucky and patient, you will eventually get what you want. If you follow management's suggestions, you will be leaving a tip of about $20 per couple for the server. Needless to say, I did not follow their suggestions. From several visits to Toby's, I can say that at least a third of the patrons are seniors (over 60). That means that there are a sizeable number of handicapped patrons. Knowing this, I cant understand why the large parking lot only has 6 handicapped spaces. There should be at least double that amount.As for the admission prices, they seem a bit steep, but Toby's has been in business a long time, and they know what it costs to provide a decent show and meal. Most other dinner theaters in the area have gone out of business, but Toby's is still there. I hope they remain profitable, and that they continue to exist

We're subscription holders to Toby's, so you know it's terrific. The food is good (and consistent from year to year), the drinks are good, and the shows and acting/singing/dancing are wonderful.

For our first experience at this venue, we were pleased to get tickets same-day for a Friday evening performance for The Pirates of Penzance. We had to call the box office b/c TicketMaster didn't have tickets available for that evening. The box office was pleasant and easy to deal with. The theater is easy to get to, even during a Merriweather Post event, and onsite parking was ample. We stood in line for about 20 minutes at Will Call to get our table number from the one agent processing people. The other agent sat doing nothing, waiting for season ticket holders or gift card users, neither of which appeared.Our table was on the top level up from the floor, but the view was fine for theater-in-the-round. The buffet is set up in the area that becomes the stage. The hostess seated us and asked us to wait for our server to take our drink orders before visiting the salad bar. Server arrived promptly, then we had our salads. While I didn't count, I'm not sure there were really 40 items there. Our family enjoys nice meals but we aren't really "foodies." I did think they could do a little better than chopped iceberg, unpeeled cuke, other very basic items. There was also cheese cubes, crackers, a good seafood pasta salad, and coleslaw.Once the hot buffet opened, we waited for 30 minutes for our table number to be called. Some music playing would have been nice for the wait time. The vegetables were exceptional for a buffet, not overcooked or mushy at all. Roasted potatoes were also good, as was baked fish. For being oven-fried, the chicken was quite greasy. The "steamed spiced shrimp" were in an ice bath, unpeeled, undeveined, and rather small. Prepare to go wash up if you choose the shrimp. Carved meats were nice, and well-done beef was available for those who prefer it. The carver, however, had shaking hands and appeared to be perhaps inexperienced, slowing the line considerably. A choice of cheesecake or Oreo cake was provided by the server, and self-serve ice cream sundaes were in the lobby. The cake was dried out. Overall, I would say the food was pretty good. Clean plates were provided for second helpings, though it's distressing to see people reusing plates, which the theater can't control if they don't notice.Our server brought two beers, one soda, one coffee and three desserts to our table. We had to borrow cream and butter from another table. The printed instructions in the playbill to tip on the entire show/meal/beverage price struck us as outrageous. We didn't do it. We believe our tip was completely fair. I'm not sure whether this is customary for dinner theaters. The singing of some seemed amateurish. The performance was good, but not great. Some lead performers had good singing voices, and a couple had very good voices. Our main complaint involved the instrumentals, which were so loud that the lyrics were frequently obscured, especially when the ensemble sang. Solos were much easier to understand. Being Gilbert and Sullivan, individual words all count. During the lengthy restroom wait during the 30-minute intermission, a patron was overheard reporting the sound system situation to the box office, and was told the info would be passed along. However, the second act sound situation mirrored that of the first.

Saw Pirates if Penzance. Excellent acting, and the singing was exceptional. Beautiful job by the cast. I didn't like the food, but I didn't mind too much because I was really more interested in having a nice time out and seeing a good show. A few things to keep in mind:1)Arrive early. You go to the buffet by the order you enter the theatre. 2)Coffee and iced tea is free, but soda is extra. There are also alcoholic beverages available for purchase. I would definitely return again for a future show.

My wife had organized a family outing at Toby ' that included eight of us. We were taken to our table promptly when the doors opened, seated, and provided excellent service until our table was called to use the buffet. The food was hot and tasty and plentiful. When dinner was over, and the floor was cleared to accommodate the production, the theater members who had been the same as those who seated and waited on us, performed. And they did so in wonderful fashion. A true joy to behold!

I am not a big fan of their buffet. It's okay but the theater is awesome. The tickets are reasonably priced.

The food was very good but the tables are way too close together to be comfortable. The production was excellent although our waiter (who was also a member of the cast) was a bit rushed and therefore charged us for two glasses of wine that had been ordered at another table. In his defense, he apologized profusely and straightened out the problem as soon as we pointed it out.

I recently took my granddaughters to a performance of "Shrek." The cast was outstanding and the theater-in-the-round design meant the children were right on top of the action...one even got a high-five from Fiona during the closing number. The children loved identifying the servers during intermission by their roles in the play. The buffet was just okay, but there was enough variety for everyone, and who doesn't love to build your own ice cream sundae? Although not all productions are child-friendly, many are, and I'd highly recommend as a way to introduce youngsters to a professional, full-length production.

What a great experience....I had never been to dinner theater and didn't know what to expect....The Show was Assume and made me want to go home and watch Shrek right then and there....It was a buffet and the food wasn't so great....The salad bar was really good....I would return to see another show....

Went with a group of ladies to see a play back when Color Purple was playing. We went to the brunch showing. Let me tell you, you're in for a GREAT treat! Our servers...were the actors & actresses in the show!! Extremely talented...I will definitely go back!!
