So nice to sit back on the reclining benches and watch the stars and the color changing ball...very relaxing and beautiful way to spend an evening!

This is especially fun when it is not so cold. The colors and patterns are amazing. Bring a blanket this time of year.

Not big but colorful and a fun place to stop and watch, like stopping to watch a Christmas light display

The only time to go see this is in the evening or at night, and if you do, sit and stay a while! Cool, comfortable benches surround it, and you can just sit and stare as long as you'd like. Pretty cool.

This illuminated sphere-within-a-sphere lights up each evening after dark for several hours. Special benches to relax on and gaze up at the art surround Buckyball. Lots of fun to spend time outside in the summer watching the innumerable color combinations that change constantly. You can see it from the road as you pass by. It's just wonderful, a must see!!!

The ball is surrounded by laid back wooden benches for you to lay on and enjoy the show. The lights are fun to watch as the pattern and colors constantly changed. If you are in the area you should go by and see it.

The Buckyball is a sphere at the Crystal Bridges American Museum and Art grounds. One of the sculptures in the front near the parking lot, it will be the recognizable sculpture from the road.

This is a lighted ball & is pretty to see at night but is nothing I would travel miles to see. It is like a huge octagon wire ball. I am surprised this made it as an attraction. It is art & is pretty lit up but is not a major attraction.

Leo Villareal's Buckyball is on display at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. What, do you ask, is a Buckyball? It is a sculpture of a fullerene molecule, which resembles a soccer ball. What makes this sculpture so unique? The LED lights and watching them light up in patterns at night. The Buckyball is easy to get to, it's located right at the entrance of Crystal Bridges. There is a parking lot adjacent to the sculpture. The sculpture is open after the museum is closed. We got there at dusk and stayed until dark. And although the six zero-gravity reclining benches were large enough to fit our family of 5, take time to view it from afar and from different perspectives - especially as it gets dark. Don't forget to bring a blanket or sweater. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We learned about the Buckminsterfullerene and gained an appreciation this artist's interpretation of science.
