Nice walking trail (4 miles) around the lake. Quiet and not crowded. Alots of different plants to see

This is almost a little hidden gem! We came down here to have a picnic lunch and the place is very well maintained. We watched as many locals fished off the banks and the throngs of geese and duck waddling about. We decided to take the walking trail around the lake which would of been wonderful if we had been a little more prepared. It was late afternoon and so the Mosquitos were out in full force, as well the second half of the trail is gravel, they warn you on the sign, but I'd thought I'd be fine, I had a rock go straight through the sole of my flip flop. Even with all that the walk was beautiful and scenic and we saw a ton of nesting turkeys up in the trees lining the lake.

Nice large picnic pavilion for our large group of people. The grounds are well kept and easy to access.

Dale County Lake is a wonderfully unspoiled lake with nice surroundings and facilities that don't mar the natural beauty of the lake. It has restroom facilities at the manager's office, picnic tables, a boat ramp and a great walking trail. It also had a large covered pavilion area in a separate area above the lake that is perfect for large groups. Next to the pavilion is a new archery range that accomodates adults and children. The lake welcomes your dogs as long as they are on a leash. The lake is well kept and a treat for outdoor activities. Fishing is good and boats are available for rent. Only trolling motors are allowed, and no loud music so the experience is really nice. The entry to the lake is free. Only charges are for boat rentals and fishing. The walking trail is nice. It is approximately 3 miles long and completely surrounds the lake. I love this place. It is great for quiet walks and great for family outings. Ducks float on the lake and fly around the area. If you go on holidays or on the weekend and want a picnic table, go early. They fill up quickly. If you want to use the pavilion, reservations must be made. On Wednesdays, the lake is closed but you can still access the walking trail.

I was invited to a BBQ here. I was SO surprised that Ozark Alabama had somewhere thi beautiful hidden away. I went back on a weekday and enjoyed a quiet walk. The grounds are well maintained. The lake is gorgeous. There were only a few other people there. My only complaint is that the bathrooms aren't open during the week day that I came. Dogs are allowed on a leash. There are picnic tables, and an archery range. There are a few swings at the range playground. There are huge trees and plenty of shade. I will definantly come back and am concidering having a BBQ of my own. It would be a lovely place for portraits or a wedding. It is about 15 minutes from the Rucker gate. Head out on 123 toward ozark downtown. Make a Right on E. Roy Parker Rd. Left on Myrtle.
