Wolf Mountain (wolfmountainutah.com) soon to be renamed Nordic Valley (nordicvalley.com) is a small, low elevation ski area in Northern Utah. Wolf Mountain is one of the easiest resorts to drive to. There aren't steep roads to deal with, and that makes a big difference when driving in winter conditions. It is common for travelers to use Ogden Canyon to get to Wolf Mountain on a somewhat narrow, winding road that gradually gains in elevation. When you arrive at Wolf Mountain ample parking is available even on weekends and holidays. Our family made several trips to Wolf Mountain during this past season mostly on Saturdays and holidays, and we didn't have to contend with parking problems or long lift lines. It was far more common to ski to the lift and reload than to have to wait. The Saturday before Martin Luther King Day was the most crowded day of the season for us, and even then the lift lines were no more than a 10 minute wait.There is a 1,000 vertical feet descent from the advanced lift. Although Wolf Mountain is relatively small when compared to other Utah ski areas it is a niche resort for beginning to intermediate snow lovers. This fit our family's abilities nicely. I credit Wolf Mountain for not trying to be something they are not. Skiing and snowboarding are encouraged. In fact, some of my family skied and boarded on the same day. Wolf Mountain offers a great learning hill with enough decline to allow skiers or boarders to move down the hill without a problem. One of the best virtues of the learning hill is that the base can be easily viewed after getting off either of the two lifts. This view seems to give beginner skiers and boarders a bit of reassurance. In addition to that view, there are impressive views to be had from all over the slopes. Also, our family could easily find one another if we decided to split up for awhile. The compactness of the area was a strength. Although, the advanced lift is a fair distance from the learning lifts all lifts could be accessed from the same base elevation. The advanced lift also offers mid-mountain unloading. There aren't any high-speed lifts at Wolf Mountain. However, time spent riding lifts isn't a deterrent to having a good time there.Wolf Mountain offers all-area day and night skiing Monday-Saturday. We don't hit the slopes on Sunday so you may want to check the schedule for that day of the week. Wolf Mountain has been known for being an affordable ski area. That approach seemed to change a bit after new ownership made upward pricing adjustments after they acquired Wolf Mountain sometime around mid-season 2013-2014. Wolf Mountain did continue to offer weeknight specials for individuals and groups. The lift staff and ski patrol team were quite friendly. We didn't spend any significant time in the lodge, so I'm not certain about the food options. Restroom arrangements can be improved as the current set-up consists of restrooms located in the lodge basement augmented by portable facilities in the main parking lot. Wolf Mountain relies heavily on snowmaking equipment to lengthen the winter season. They do a nice with grooming the mountain. Wolf Mountain offers a variety of terrain park features.We enjoyed trying all of the runs on the mountain. Some of our favorites included Aspen Chute, Barney's Way, Wandering Wolf, and Ski Team (especially at night). We found as we tried other ski areas toward the end of the season that our time at Wolf Mountain had helped us improve our skills.

The lift was broken when we tried it for a day, so only 2 green slopes were open and one was very icy2 of us (skiers) decided to take a snowboard lesson for a laughMy knee is still hurting nowIt was great fun during the lesson. We came from the Southeast to visit Ogden Valley relatives and to take our children skiing for the first time. Our relatives recommended Wolf Mountain as a good place to learn that is also reasonably priced. We skied 5 days in a row and had a great time. Thankfully, the resort makes snow, because we did not have any natural snow during the week we were there. Because I had not skied in 18 years, I had a re-learn lesson with Sarah the first day, which was very helpful. Then, when I reached a plateau later in the week, Terry gave me an excellent lesson, and I learned to ski steeper slopes. The resort is particularly manageable for families, because you can easily find family members skiing at different levels down near the bottom of the mountain. We will visit again!

Fairly good sking but at a really affordable price. Very close to 2 other first class resorts if you need more challenge at a higher price. Both day and night sking.

Wolf Mountain is the smallest resort in the Ogden area. This is a great place to learn to ski and snowboard. It's also very inexpensive and they have night skiing.

The customer service was severely lacking at Wolf Mountain. The staff was bored and rude and very unhelpful. We only went here the first day of our trip just so our kids could get used to their boards again so it was fine for that since it's very cheap but that's the only thing it's good for.

I love this resort as a place to take my friends who are just learning to ski or snowboard and i think overall it is a great deal. Unfortunately, I'm not sure why the employees there seemed so suspicious the last time I went. I practically had to go through an interrogation to get a new plastic tag to hang my pass on (I took my coat off becuase of the warm spring day). There are signs up warning that you will be prosecuted for reselling ski tickets in the parking lot. I assume they do this because they have various specials for multiple passes and they don't want you to be able to use them too easily?... I compare that to Brighton which also does buy-one-get-one type deals and yet has no problem with people meeting up with others in the parking lot to share passes, and I actually think they probably get more business that way from people who come solo. Maybe there are a lot of people in the Ogden Valley looking to scam the resort and that's why they have this attitude? but I wasn't a fan of their treatment of customers.

this is definitely not snowbasin or park city, so if that's what you're looking for, pass it by. BUT, we had a great time here, it's very local, definitely a great place for kids to learn to ski and a place to brush up and practice. our son (61/2) had a great time in group lessons. the beginner area is really good size, most importantly, i couldn't believe the value, i mean 55 dlrs for rentals, lesson, and all day lift pass!! and the specials they have during the week are all incredible. i mean they have a 40 dlr family day! all lift passes....we are definitely going again. oh did i mention no lines?

This is not the place to go for the serious skier. It is, however, a perfect place to teach youngsters or learn as an adult. It is never too crowded and passes are cheap ($30 for adults). Food is also reasonably priced for lunch ($4-7).

My husband and I hadn't skied in years, so we decided to sign up for lessons. We had two great instructors, Kevin & Mark. The resort was not crowded at all when we arrived, and we never had to wait in line to get on the lifts. The trails were well groomed, and we really improved our skiing by the end of the day. This ski resort used to be called Nordic Valley. It's a great place to take the family.

This is where my kids learned to ski. It is very small and has a fairly long straight green run to learn on. The lessons here are about half the price of what they are at any other resort and the instructors are really nice. The lodge has had some nice work done on it this past year.

If you are looking for a big mountain with lots of fancy facilities, Wolf Mountain is not your place. However, if you'd like to get the whole family skiing at a fraction the cost of other resorts then you've found the spot. Wolf Mountain has lots of beginner areas great for teaching kids, and the whole staff is very used to the beginner skier. No disapproving looks at all if you ask them to slow down the chair to get on, or if you need an extra hand getting several little kids on the lift. They do have a handful of black diamond runs as well if you need a break from the bunny hill. Overall this is a very fun resort.Ski rental available at the hill, small lodge/restaurant, and limited snowmaking.

Went there when the road to Powder Mountain was closed due to a wreck.Good beginner area, good for families with little ones.

This year Utah didn't get much snow, so I didn't want to spend big bucks going to some giant resort, so I decided to try Wolf Mountain out. I came middle of the week and there were maybe 10 other people at the whole resort. Due to the lack of snow only two lifts were open and only took you half way up the mountain. There were only maybe 4 runs available. The snow wasn't great, but that's not their fault. The staff was somewhat friendly, and the lifts were alright. I would probably go back just for the sense of being one of the only people at the whole resort.

Where else can you get a little bit of everything for everyone. My 2 year old loves the magic carpet and us adults love that we can get some adult runs in at the same time. Wouldn't start my kids skiing anywhere else.
