northwest airlines history centre

This small museum is packed with Northwest Airlines memorabilia and staffed by engaging and welcoming volunteers, most of whom are former Northwest employees. Beautiful static models portray the aircraft that the company flew since its beginnings in the 1920s until its recent merger with Delta Airlines. Other interesting memorabilia bring back the days when flying somewhere was actually half the fun of travel. Aviation enthusiasts will find a bookshelf of information and comfortable leather chairs to allow them to get lost in their personal airline research, and perhaps even discover a few surprises.The museum is free but donations are gratefully accepted. Its location is near both the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport and the Mall of America. Current hours are M - F 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday. A light rail station on 34th Avenue is located in front of the hotel located next door to the History Centre building.
