We visited this place at least once a year for the past few years, sometimes more. Found about it in a brochure. My family and I love the butterfly garden and in the fall of this year, 2014, we went there to tag and release monarch butterflies and the kids loved it! will go back as many times as we can when it is open.

What an awesome place! I didn't know that the farm had closed for the season just the weekend prior to my visit. But the owner graciously invited me to browse the gift shop filled with all sorts of soaps, lotions, etc. made right there on the farm. I will definitely make a return visit in the spring or summer when the gardens are in bloom.

I had met the owner of this farm at a conference and finally found the time to visit. My sister and I drove down and found it easily by following the directions on their website. It was a cool, overcast Sunday in September and we were the only visitors, so we had a private tour from Ellen, one of the owners. She obviously enjoys her work and sharing it with guests. As it was late in the season, we did not get the peak blooms that would likely be seen earlier in the year, but it was still beautiful. The variety of herbs and flowers was superb, and Ellen's knowledge about plants was outstanding. I will go back in the spring or summer to get the full effect of the plants.

So glad you enjoyed your visit. I wish the weather had been a little more ideal but that is one of the many things we can not control. Look forward to showing you the property in the fall. Thanks again for the kind words.

Thanks for the kind words and I am glad you found the visit informational too.As for the pond, it is a 2 acre gem down on one of our trails. We are always open to suggestions and I will upload some better pictures and I do appreciate you sharing some of the wonderful shots you took while visiting us. Ellen

We were so impressed with this interesting find. Don't let the bumpy road fool you-keep driving for a delightful afternoon experience. Miss Ellen is passionate about her garden and butterflies. Make sure you sample some of her homemade lotions and soaps! We are so glad we came.

If you're in the Wytheville area make time to visit Beagle Ridge. The natural beauty, the herb garden and the butterfly house make this a little slice of Heaven. A definite "must do".

It takes a while to find Beagle Ridge Herb Farm, but it is well worth the drive. You will get to see the beauty of the mountains while experiencing an exciting 4-wheel drive ride. After the ride you can enjoy the butterfly house and herb garden. They have many wonderful items for purchase that are grown at the farm. We have enjoyed the dried lavender, the herb mixtures and lovely lotions sold in the small gift shop. The afternoon in the mountains was well worth the $20 per person cost.

First of all, do not use a GPS to find this location. Refer to their facebook page, website, or a local map. We used a GPS and saw parts of Wytheville only locals see; it was gorgeous, but save yourself some time. It was cold when we visited so there was not a lot in bloom, but it was fun to walk around and even better, we were able to ask the owners (locals) on recommendations on things to do. If you like lavender and other natural products, this place has tons of lotions, sachets, etc to buy.

Even during off season, it was lovely to explore the little garden and the butterfly house. We even walked down to the pond and bought lots of local goodies from the store. The worker was nice and left us to do our thing but offered to assist if needed. We will definitely come back again during the spring and summer!

Ellen and Gregg went above and beyond to make our visit everything I dreamed of! After a ride through the woods on Taz (the ATV), she took us too the overlook where I proposed to my girlfriend. Ellen also had a wonderful picnic packed for us to enjoy afterwards!! I can't thank Ellen and Gregg enough for helping me plan this special moment and sharing it with them. It was a beautiful farm and the hospitality was perfect. We will definitely be back to visit!

Went to learn about Lavendar and herbs, learned so much more. The tour of the garden by Ellen Reynolds was informative and delightful; the demos by Gregg on cutting lavendar and the lunch (reserve ahead if you can) was beyond wonderful! Went home with several (many) plants. Then there were the butterflies, lovely, lovely creatures. Let's not forget the shop, excellent books on gardening subjects, potpourri, and sachets. Oh boy! Water and soda available for purchase.

Loved the beautiful flowers in bloom and nature in all her glory! Met up with a deer and a rattle snake!
