I grew up only an hour away and never knew of this little gem. I took my two kids and their grandmother tubing yesterday and it was perfect. Every single person who worked the tube park seemed to enjoy kids and knew how to treat guests. The tubing was fun and the lines were acceptable. Highly recommended. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the payment process. Only after waiting in line for 10 minutes were we told about a required waiver. Had to get out of line to complete the waiver then get back in line - another 15 minutes. Would have been nice to have an advanced notice that this was required.

I surprised my husband with a trip to the Ski Sawmill Family Resort for a few ours of snow tubing. He had never been to a Ski Resort before and never went skiing or snow boarding, so I figured tubing would be our best option. We came with our waivers already filled out and waited in line for about 10 minutes. There were alot of other people tubing that day so we had to come back 40 minutes later to get to go. I like that the woman at the sign up counter asked if we knew how to put on the tags showing we were snow tubing. She understood people that are new to it all do come in there sometimes. I wasn't sure what to do next though after we paid, I wish they would have kind of explained, so we asked someone at the rental area and they said to just go to the Snow Tubing area and get in line to grab a tube, then the explained where that area is. The resort features 3 courses to snow tube down. They're fast and there's no long walk to the top, they take you quickly back up the hill with a machine. I liked it when the guys handed you the tube rope thing when you got to the top of the hill, because it's hard sometimes to get out of that tube, get out of the way, and find that rope handle without getting nailed by the next person coming up to the top. Everyone was pretty laid back and it was very fun. You can watch for free, but we got to go down about 5 times an hour. It costed $6 per person, per hour or $20 per person for 4 hours. The place was super busy so we waited in line alot, but the line moved fast. They tried to space people out so it wasn't to busy over there, but it got busy. The line got really long by time we went down the last time, otherwise, we would have had time to go again.

I actually skied here in the early 80's while attending Lock Haven. My husband skied here while he was attending Lycoming. Naturally, we wanted our kids to ski here and that they did. We have stayed in the chalet which is the closest you will ever get to the slopes. We have stayed in their motel, nice rustic community room with rooms off of it. We also brought a group here (sons swim team) and stayed in their bunkhouse. Nice bunks, showers and community room. This place is out in the middle of nowhere but their ski instructors are wonderful. They instilled such a love of the sport in my two children that they both went to college in Vermont and one became a ski instructor at Smugglers Notch!

We had a great time at the New Year's Eve Night Skiing at Ski Sawmill. Ski Sawmill is a locals ski resort, about 1 1/2 hours from State College PA. They had a great special for New Years Eve, $15 for rentals and $17 for lift from 5pm - 1am. We were told by one of the locals that the resort started offering this ski session to get the kids on the slope and not out drinking. :)The bunny slope was great. The lifts were a little different from anything we had seen before. They had regular lifts but also a T-bar lift. This took some of us a little time to master. If you are a beginner ski-er, don't believe them if they tell you their beginner trail is easy. It was not. It was a bit steep in places. However, for my son who was a little more advanced, it was perfect. The staff here is incredibly nice. Everyone is helpful and friendly and willing to answer any questions or guide you in the right direction. If you are ever out that way during ski season, it's definitely worth a stop. It's not one of those extravagant resorts but the trails are great and the customer service is awesome. Oh and one more thing, I don't know what they do to their hot chocolate, but it was exceptionally good! We will definitely be visiting Ski Sawmill again.

Went snow tubing at Sawmill. 3 nice courses, fast and quick to get back up the hill with them only allowing so many people per hour, so you get plenty of rides. If your in the area and not a skier try the snow tubing.

Our annual anniversary ski trip took us to Ski Sawmill after we found a great deal for a 2 night stay and 2 day's lift tickets on a local TV station. I'll start off by saying on a big positive it was a lot of fun...snow tubing on Sunday was a blast, skiing on Monday and Tuesday were good. It's an ok place for beginners which is what we want since our daughters have only been on skis a few times over the past couple years. [Count on beginners using only the 2 smaller slopes..which for my family was enough].Now the bad...everything seems like the owners do just enough to keep people coming. For example, your immediate impression is bad...very bad. The road leading into the place is solid, rutted mud! Spend a couple bucks and put gravel down so I don't have to worry about breaking an axle. The "motel" room was basic but just what we needed, what I didn't need was the room to be 80 degrees at night. After doing what I thought we could to lower the temp, I called the owners and was told to open a window...which is what we did and we also turned on the fan...in the morning the room was 59 (which is just a couple degrees cooler than we like but much better than 80!). First day skiing, and we find out it is their busiest day of the year...a fundraiser for a local PBS station...yes, it's partially my fault for not looking at their calendar of events, but I would have loved for someone to tell us that when we booked it...there was a 2 1/2 hour wait to get our rentals and by the time we got through the line there were no poles except for children's size. Remarkably it really wasn't overcrowded on the slopes...and yes we still had fun. Day 2 skiing...almost empty, but still they only had 1 pair of ski boots for me (size 11) ...really??? There was a lot of equipment set aside for various ski clubs that showed up later it turned out...regardless, my boots looked very old and were ill fitted and while I'm not an expert, I do believe it was partly to blame on a wipe out I had on my first run in which I twisted my knee and basically was done for the day....but my kids and wife had a good time...that's what was important. Another example, there was NO ONE other than my family at the hotel on Tuesday. I asked the owner if we can stay in our room until the end of the day if no one was checking in so that we can use the room to freshen up and change before our 2 hour drive home We were told that while no one else was checking in the cleaning crew came in at 11....but we could use the community room to change. Once again, that was nice (the community room was just that, a big room in the center of the motel with a TV and kitchen area...and I honestly loved it..it was very useful and the furnishings were better than the actual motel room...extremely homey and comfortable (at least for my tastes). While that was nice, we knew that we were the only folks that had stayed Monday night, and the chance to have a shower before leaving would have been awesome, but that's the owner's right, I understand that...just would have been that one little bit extra of customer service that could have won us over). The people at this resort are all friendly, and they were helpful to different degrees, from barely to very, very. For example, we had never used T bars before, and were offer tidbits of advice by the different operators. About 2 hours in, one gentleman stopped the machine and showed my youngest daughter exactly how to do it...after that no more falls on the way up the slope for any of us...it made the day much more enjoyable for all us from that point on....One other important fact for anyone planning an overnight trip to Ski Sawmill. This place is really in the middle of nowhere! I live in the country and drive 15 minutes to the nearest grocery, and where I live is still built up far more than Morris PA. Once again, on the positive side, the nearest real town is Wellsboro PA which is an EXTREMELY nice small town! Lots of restaurants, shopping, bars etc....We had all of our meals there and all of the restaurants were very good!Just a couple quick suggestions for the slopes management for what its worth...you have a good thing there, but cutting corners will not win over your customers. Do your best to give the folks that are coming there everything they are expecting and just a little bit more and you will have a booming business!! We drove from the Poconos and were very excited about our trip, we were hoping to find a hidden gem that we could bring a group of families to and stay in the "bunk house/lodge"....unfortunately, I don't think we will be doing that.

I am one of a few people who can say I skiied this place when it first opened decades ago. Now a resident of NJ, I am lucky to get out once a year. Although Ski Sawmill's 500 foot vertical drop is no Whiteface Mountain, it has always had excellent snowmaking and conditions. If you want lots of skiing time, take the drive here because the lines are short or non-existent. The staff could not be more friendly and the prices for food and lift tickets are most reasonable. Great place for family and friends. Good lodging nearby and in Williamsport.

Had an outstanding family experience with a family of varied skiers from expert-to-intermediate-to-novice on skis and snowboards. Outstanding conditions, good lifts and very friendly staff over three days. Nice, affordable accomodations and lots of fun. Highly recommend this little hidden gem!!!

Just did a 4 day ski trip with 4 teens and stayed in the chalet.. Old put clean and nice. Never had an option of staying so close to the lift.. It was perfect for watching 4 kids ski from the living room sofa.. Smallest resort we have ever visited but worked out great for 2 beginners and 2 expert skiers .. Unless your an adult expert skier them this place is an inexpensive place to visit with great friendly staff. Not over crowded so lift line were short, even for a holiday weekend..

My husband and grandchildren love going skiing here!! My youngest grandson came from KY just to go skiing with his pop pop! His mom and sister enjoyed the tubing! We love sharing this with them! I myself sit and watch, that the only bad thing, not enough seating.

Beautiful facility in the heart of central PA. Easy to get to. Great snow making machines that allow the slopes to open early and stay open late in the season. Close to Wellsboro, PA one of Pennsylvania's gem little towns.

We ski at sawmill yearly and enjoy it every time. The short lift lines and friendly staff compliment a decently conditioned mountain for skiing.

We took our family there when we all learned how to ski Our children became great my husband and I loved to watch

Took my 3 year old out for his first time skiing. We had a blast. It was the perfect place for beginners and had plenty of options for those more advanced. The tubing looked fun too. Maybe we will do that next time.

JoeSkiier

too small, nothing for an expert skiier or snowboarder. A waste of money. Great for a beginner. Their advertising is a bit misleading.
