We visited the museum, mill, and recreated Swedish village. The museum has quite a few immigration stories that bring the past to life. The mill is in good condition and very well-maintained. The children probably enjoyed the village more than anything else. If in Lindsborg, a stop at this museum is a must!

When you go in the museum, be sure to watch the 8 minute dvd showing the mill in action. The mill is almost all made of wood rather than metal, There is also a nice Santa Fe Trail section. One fascinating display is of small (1-2 ft) cement sculptures of various people. I thought they were wood carvings. They were done by a local self taught artist and very well done. The buildings across the street had some interest, especially the Dt. Louis World's Fair Sweden building. Some exhibits, especially across the street are just collections without good labeling and the taxidermied animals include some that are not from the area (for example, puffins). To me, these take away from the otherwise fascinating mill.

The Smoky Valley Roller Mills is an actual original Flour Mill still producing flour when operating. But they have tours of the mill from when the wheat arrives from the fields showing how from top to bottom wheat is turned into flour. If you've never seen flour made, you must stop & take a tour. You have a higher appreciate for you bread & flour in your daily life.

The lady at the desk was fantastic and I thought the mill was well taken care of. There are a lot of stairs so be aware of that. Is worth a stop and there are some photos to be taken but it is not one of the best museums I have ever seen. Still, if you are in the area it is worth the stop just to see the history of the area.

The lady at the desk, Lorna N., is a five star greeter. She started us with the movie. The mill itself is three stories of intricate machinery. The Swedish pavilion & old railway station (across the street) were included in the $2 entry fee. I enjoyed a $1 bottle of Kansas brewed root beer sold in the combo entry/ gift shop on a snowy October day. The staff seems really involved in German and Swedish ancestry research.

Great place to learn about the wheat of great plains is processed for the table. Construction is truly amazing.

I have never ran across a working mill. Many exhibits from an era long gone in these parts. Will probably take the kid again and recommended if looking for some history in the Lindsborg Area.

It has been a couple years since I visited the Old Mill Museum. It is in a very nice setting with a waterway and plenty to see and learn. It is a multi-level museum that gives you the feeling that you are living in the past. The village across the street is like entering a town of the 1880s. Lots to see, read, hear and learn. If you tour the village as well as the mill plan on spending at least two to three hours.

The museum itself is brilliant, but the park by the old mill (down by the river) is astonishing and wonderful!

Beautifully restored, love all the beautiful wood in this mill. The vintage dioramas of Lindsborg history are perfectly charming. Enjoyed strolling through the heritage village with historical buildings and diverse contents. In a lovely setting by the river, fun place to take photographs.
