The museum was a great attraction while we were in town, there was a great number of displays and things to look at!

Visited and loved the history of this track where racing began. A must see experience! It is a great family oriented facility.

If you are a fan of NASCAR and want to attend one of the most historic fun races of the season take time to come to darlington you won't be disappointed. Only wish they had two races a year.

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum and hall of fame, the displays were well done and lots of info was shared. Price of admission is only $5! If you have any interest at all in auto racing, this is a great stop!

Darlington raceway was a part of a bus trip my husband and I took. I expected this part of the venture would just interest the guys but not so. we took the bus for a lap around the track and then got out. I joined the hearty and climbed to the top of the bank on the first turn. Sure is steep and gives one a new perspective of racing.the Dir. Of PR got on the bus and gave us a great historical recap and answered questions. the guys loved the museum with the old cars.Worth the stop.

The Darlington Raceway Museum is interesting -- even to someone like me who is not a racecar or NASCAR fan. The museum is well-laid out and roomy feeling, clean and has lots of neat memorabilia -- and some great cars. There are bathrooms in the middle of the museum as well as near the entrance in the gift shop. There are around 14 race cars on display, from as far back as 1946 until recently. Seeing the really old race cars that had been bought right off the lot and raced was neat -- why these cars went all of 75 mph back in the day. Times have sure changed and you can see it in the various cars and the many drivers honored in their NMPA Hall of Fame. There is a video -- lasts around 5 minutes -- that showed the history of Darlington and it was very well done. There is a special tribute to race car driver Joe Weatherly, and a loop video showing Dale Waltrip's extreme wreck where he rolled 8 times and then walked away from the wreck -- oh, and the wrecked car itself is on display as well. The NMPA Hall of Fame has drawings of each of the race car drivers and some of the behind-the-scenes men as well. Each person has some personal item on display above their photo. I especially like the western hat and sunglasses on display above the picture of Richard Petty. There is also a nice gift shop. After we were finished in the museum, we could drive to gate 39, park in the designated spot and walk up an incline to get a view of the racetrack through the fence. It's pretty big. The guy at the gate was very nice.We were able to see it all (without reading everything in all the exhibits) in 45 minutes. If you're a fan, you might need an hour. It was only $5 each for adults and kids under 12 yrs are free. The website says hours are M-F 10-5 / Sat 10-4 / Sunday 11-4. If making a special trip, you might want to call - 843-395-8821. The museum is right in front of the racetrack with an easy to find entrance. It's right off route 401.

I purchased tickets to the 2014 Bojangles 500 for my husband for Christmas, and it was our first race at this track. We headed down on Wednesday night from NJ and arrived in Darlington around 9:00am the next morning. We purchased camping at the track and stayed in our pop-up camper. As soon as we arrived, the staff was ready to help out in anyway to make sure we were settled in comfortably (including rentable port-a-johns for $85...for the whole time we were there!). The camping and souvenir areas are let friendly. Our little dog, Chico, had a blast considering it was his first camping experience. Unlike some racing camping areas, it never got too rowdy and all of our neighbors were wonderful. The races that weekend were great, and we can't say enough wonderful things about the staff throughout the entire track. Everyone was helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. Darlington Raceway is highly recommended, and we will be back next spring!

The awesome roar of those engines and the track history should be enough to make a trip. We(wife and I) spent 3 days in an RV park just outside the Darlington Raceway and it was quite an experience. The people are friendly and will help you out with any questions you might have. If you plan to visit an upcoming race and stay in an RV, it's best to bring a towed vehicle also because there are no stores nearby that i found but within easy driving distance. Overall, not a bad trip and would do it again.

Great atmosphere, fantastic stadium, great friendly crowd, well organised, good behind the pits walk. But racing as dull as dishwater! Had to try a NASCAR race, but being from Europe - formula one, touring cars, rallying- it's a very boring race. The other stuff made it a day out I am glad I did, but wouldn't return.

Darlington Raceway is one of the original Stock Car tracks and they have had time to get the experience right. First off, the track is small enough that you can see well from most seats. It is easy to follow the action. We watched he Nationwide race from Pearson Tower on turn four and it was excellent. Our seats for the Sprint Cup however were too central. as the cars exited turn four they were too close to the wall for us to see clearly, so you had to wait for them to enter turn one before you knew what happened. I think seats higher or lower might have been better. It was made worse for us, because everyone in the section had the same problem so everyone stood up to see.Although there were locations leading to the track selling parking spots, the track maintains plenty of free parking, and I spoke to people who had arrived Saturday for the Saturday race and had no problem parking. The shuttle services were always available to get around the track, the concession and food services were convenient, and washrooms clean and close. I like to actually get into the pit area, and Darlington provides an excellent package allowing you into the pit lane and close to the garages until just before the races start. An excellent NASCAR experience!

Visited here to watch a Nascar race. The track is awesome. We sat at the start finish line. Great view. The camping area was full and the parking is plentiful....and free, but you may have to walk a ways.

Watched the Bojangles 500 here. Great place to view a race. Lots of action along the walls. Great site lines from the Tyler Tower. This is one of the oldest tracks in NASCAR ... kind of like the Fenway Park of NASCAR. Great experience.

I love the older tracks...the new 1-1/2 milers are boring. Darlington is great. We had a great time. Can go back and forth to your car, bring in beer...we had a blast.

the seating area is tight. I've been to numerous Nascar tracks. Daytona, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Martinsville, Bristol and now Darlington. Darlington is by far the tightest seating area. You are packed in. Literally shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you. And zero leg room. I'm average height and weight 5'8 and 160 lbs. If I was barely comfortable, imagine, if you were bigger. I sat in the Pearson seating area, section D, Row 35. Good seats. Good view of the entire track, great view of turns 3 and 4 as well as the beginning of the front stretch. Some bathrooms are small and of course a line but that is to be expected when you are talking about that many people. I received an on track pass free with my ticket purchase and that was a great experience. Actually was really exciting to be that close and personal with the real drivers and their cars. Parked a little ways from the track in a surrounding neighborhood and that allowed for an easy exit. I thought they did a great job handling that many people leaving at once as no one left early. Had a great time but not sure if I would go again.
