municipal rose garden

This is a great spot for picnics, walks, photography exercising and throwing around a ball. I come here very often and it is always peaceful, even when there are a lot of kids present there is always a spot you can find away from the noise. This place is beautiful year round but of course most beautiful when the roses are in full bloom. This is my favorite San Jose spot.

I saw so many roses in here. They are colorful, beautiful and natural. The garden is run and taken care by volunteers. Many people take advantage of it like using for photography purposes, dating, engagement and wedding planning, etc. The roses are shining all year round, but there will be particular season like spring or summer when they are blooming. I was there during late autumn, but still admired their beauty. As San Jose city is boring itself, the Rose Garden is one of very few worth visiting places that I'd recommend you to visit. It is much more natural than the Japanese friendship garden, and it is free for everyone.

It's free, and it's beautiful. Massive displays of roses in quanity and in full bloom. Well maintained park. Great 1-2 hour stroll about the roses.

... but not much more than that at this time of year. We walked in one side and out the other. Probably very nice when the roses are blooming.

Best seen in spring around April/May as the first blooms are on. Great use of color and nice to be able to smell the roses and see the colors. Sometimes a wedding is going on. Go there the evening of the local proms (Saturday's in May) and the girls are like roses too!

I got married here. The grounds are immaculate and the roses are absolutely beautiful. People who visit are very respectful of the grounds. The water fountain in the center is great to sit and watch. Very tranquil environment. I come here with my coffee and just walk the grounds.

Visiting in February does not allow you to appreciate this garden fully. There were only a couple blooms throughout the park. But it was still a nice place to visit. I would love to go back when the roses are in bloom to see what the different varieties look like. They are all well labeled. It would probably be a great place to have some photos done for engagement, wedding and such.

If you like beauty, this is your place. A world class location - but since mother nature is really in charge, not every day is guaranteed. There is an army of dedicated volunteers who help maintain the garden. You can also get a sneak preview of roses that are being 'groomed' for the market place. The Rosicrucian is close by and you might consider the visit as twofer. Rose Garden is free admission, street parking. Museum has admission charge and free parking.

I went there on a first date and it was the perfect location. The flowers we beautiful and we sat at one of the tables and just talked until they almost locked us in.

This is a free and self guided stop. Take a walk through the nearby neighborhoods to enjoy the Spanish architecture and pristine university homes. The Garden is gorgeous and just a relaxing walk through amazing flowers!

While chatting it up over breakfast at Bills Cafe in San Jose, a local said I had to go see the roses now in bloom at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden. I had some time on my hands so I was asking people what I could do for the day that didn't involve shopping LOL. The rose garden is 5-1/2 acres and has been selected as 'America's Best Rose Garden" by the All-America Rose Selections and was selected from over 130 Rose Gardens. There are nearly 4000 roses and over 200 varieties represented. The garden is laid out in sections that surround a central water fountain. Most of the paths are grass so be sure to wear flat shoes to make it easier to walk the grounds. There is a map available so be sure to pick one up to get the layout and find your favorites.

This is a beautiful rose garden in San Jose. The variety of roses are quite diverse. They do a good job of keeping the garden so beautiful. Its a great place to go and relax and smell the roses.its a good place to bring children as well.

nice peaceful place to hang out. its big and has lots of different roses. pathways to stroll, i was there and there were a lot of school kids like a field trip but they were well behaved

This is a local gem of a rose garden that is beautiful during much of the year. I've been both in spring and in summer and it's been beautiful both times. This is a rose garden and you will find many varieties and colors. A nice place for a stroll, a picnic or fun pictures.
