We've been to Emerine Estates Winery before and enjoyed it. This time was not as impressive, but it had nothing to do with their wines. I will explain a bit further into the review.First, let me say that this wine is worth going out of the way for. This winery is set in a bit of country, a short drive off the freeway. Their food selection is limited but what they do have is good, for the most part. We ordered a small cheese appetizer tray. It consisted of two half blocks of different cheeses and some slices of pepperoni, set on a wooden cutting board, accompanied by a basket of crackers. The other appetizers sounded better but this was the only option suitable for the gluten free person in our group. It was nothing special, but was nicely displayed. Next, we ordered hamburger baskets. The beef is listed as meat from cattle raised by the owners. The beef was good, although you had to order toppings separate. For a small burger, I would expect tomato, lettuce, and pickle to be included. The side was a small bag of potato chips. Condiments come in packets, but we had to ask for them. The best part of the visit here was the wine! They have a decent selection and it is made without preservatives or other additives. We ordered their special wineshakes, which consisted of fermented cream mixed with your choice of certain selected wines. These were really delicious! To finish the night, we bought a bottle of coconut wine to take home. It is a sweet white wine and we have really enjoyed it. I think we will save another visit for warmer weather, though. The restaurant is in a building that is very cold and the only noticeable heat source was a small portable heater in a corner. We were not seated close enough to benefit from the heat and, needless to say, we were uncomfortable throughout dinner. One of our guests had to remove her boots in the car, to warm her feet as they had become too cold and were causing her pain. For a building that size, there should be more heat for all customers. As we had visited in warmer weather previously, and sat on the deck, we did not anticipate the cold building. We will be back for another visit, but we will definitely wait until the weather warms up. The wine is what will draw us back for another try.

My wife and I have visited a number of wineries in the north east Ohio area, but this was one we had not been to until this year. We were greeted with a smokey tunnel entering the small tasting/dining room. We saw a bus out front and expected the worst. A group of about ten drunken people were making way too much noise for the small room, but this did not affect our service by the staff. My mother-in-law presented a coupon for a free cheese tray, but the woman at the desk quickly said it would not be enough for more than one person and suggested we buy a larger tray. After a few minutes of tasting wines another person walked up to the counter and gladly filled the cheese tray request and it was perfect for the four of us. We did enjoy the wines and despite it being our first stop we bought the tropical paradise since it was unique and had a great flavor that reminded us of citrus wine.

The service was good and our server recommended many things in the ways of wine. She was really nice and fun to be around. I had the black angus burger and it was one to try again. The wine was ok and it was served in plastic wine glasses which seemed tacky. All wines were served in the same glass regardless if it was white or red. This is a haul compared to other wineries. So I would not make the trip unless I was near Andover. Mainly the property around the vineyard is like Sanford an sons. I know they can't control neighbors but if you want your winery to look attractive you might need to look into this. The atmosphere outside needs work. The wine shakes look really good but we were having dessert at our Bed and Breakfast so we skipped them.

This all organic winery boasts many unique and fabulous wines. My favorite is the Seduction, which is a Pinot Noir. The website describes this wine as, " Ohio grown Pinot Noir with strong notes of Coffee, Mocha, Cherry, and Butter. Undertones of Vanilla and Chocolate round out this complex full bodied wine. Nude Oak aged with minimal Oak tones." There are many dry and sweet wine choices and the owners encourage customers to taste the various wines. If you are lucky, the cafe will offer the farm raised organic beef hamburgers, which are the best I have ever tasted! The ambiance is great and the owners are fun and interesting!!
