Really this is the best beer in Vermont if you like ipa. The small batch the crusher and focal banger are also outstanding. One can is plenty.

We tried. We found it. It's is gloriously awkward location. We peered and looked in the windows and hoped someone would open the door. But no one did. We did find the beer. It was good.

Brewery now closed to the public but will likely open a new facility soon. The lines were quick when it was open and well worth the trip to get a case of Heady Topper. Easily one of the best DIPAs in the country and fairly cheap

Although the brewery had to close to the public, the Kimmich's have made sure that there is plenty of Heady and Ouroboros available in town. A true gift. John and Jen are working hard to find a new retail spot nearby, so keep your ears open. It should be great! Meanwhile visit Waterbury's restaurants and pubs to get your Heady fill.

Brewery is currently closed to the public. Alchemist beers are served in most of the great Waterbury Restaurants. Finding cans of Heady Topper to take home is a virtually impossibility as Demand so exceeds Supply it isn't even funny.....

One of the reasons my friends and I made the trip to Vermont was to come here and buy Heady Topper. It was nice being able to try it on tap and we got there shortly after they opened so we had no trouble buying a case. It was definitely worth our trip coming here.

It's hard to imagine a place where all the product the make sellout in less than one day. When there was an announcement that they would no longer seek their beer from the current location, local hotels received cancelations! They will soon have another location, so that the enormous traffic created by their beer, can be better managed.

The brewery is conveniently located in Waterbury, VT, the same town that has the Ben & Jerry's tour. We walked right in and bought a case of their amazing Heady Topper beer, and that was that. It is a really popular beer. We're lucky we got some from their HQ before their more recent close and plans for relocation.

Great Beer. Great People. Very Friendly Open to questions. Quick with a sample. They were in the process of renovations we are looking forward to stopping in this winter to see the results.

First, to start off the brewery posted that the week we went (the week of 11/10) was the last week they were going to be able to sell their famous beer directly from the brewery until they found a new location (they have already posted on their facebook page that a new location has been found). With that being said, my husband and I went on Veteran's Day to buy a case each (the maximum amount allowed). Since it was a day off and the last week of them selling from the brewery - there was a HUGE and slow moving line. We waited in line for 2.5 hours. While we were waiting outside in line we weren't sure what was taking so long. Once we were inside, it seemed like the process should have been going alright (the employees were working as fast as possible). It was just a case of too many people. The place was handing out free beer tastings to everyone as they waited in line. The beer is excellent. It was worth the 2.5 hour wait. We also went back the next day to buy a case each and the line was only about 15 minutes long. Everyone at the brewery was very friendly and working very hard (on what must have seemed like an endless line). Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy IPA's. Hopefully, with a new location there won't be a crazy situation like there was this past week. The brewery only cans Monday through Wednesday and they easily sell out by Thursday. Just keep that in mind in case you're planning on visiting.

A friend of mine told me to check this place out on my way to Burlington. I checked out the reviews on beer advocate and said hell why not. After going to Ben & Jerry's we arrived at the alchemist at 1115am and they open at 11am. The line was 1/2 way around the building which made me think damn people love their beer. I ended up getting just under two cases even before I tried their beer. The beer itself is amazing and as I said above probably one of the BEST ipa' I have ever had. It is so smooth and not overly hoppy when you drink it however the citrus and grapefruit aroma when you open the can is just awesome. Since I am from Connecticut I can not get this beer so I had to stock up and bring a couple back for friends. If you are ever in the area please please do not miss this place if you like beer its truley awesome.

It was easy to find, and one of the members of our group brews his own prize-winning beer. He raved about the offerings and would not miss the opportunity to visit the home of this well-regarded brew. We purchased some to take along with us!

A destination for beer enthusiasts. We went just before opening and were impressed with the efficient and friendly staff. We did our homework ahead of time regarding availability of beer etc. We were here to take home some beer after all! We got a nice sample while waiting in line, and there is some nice beer swag to buy. I got a great metal sign. Wish more places had them. Bottom line, do your homework, and you won't be left wanting. The brewer does a great job on their website and facebook page keeping their fans in the know.

We went on a self guided beer tour yesterday and it was disappointing to say the least. We started out at The Alchemist where they were out of beer, yes, out of beer. A fellow beer tour friend said it was like going to a restaurant and them having no food...Then the second stop was Rock Art. The staff was so lame and almost made it a point to try to NOT talk to us. We were the only ones there. They were obviously not vested in this and only wanted their day to end so they could make their $9 per hour. Then we went to Hill Farmstead. They need to figure that out. It was a 20 foot line that took 2 hours to wait in to get your growlers filled. HUH?We just came back from Colorado where we visited Oskar Blues and New Belgium. These places were fun, the people engaging and they were proud of there beer and wanted to share it with us and talk to us about it all day long if we had wanted to.Boo so far to my home state of Vermont.

Went to the brewery in October while it was undergoing a bit of a refit. My husband is a big fan of the beer (which I don't drink), and enjoyed that plus the chance to get an Alchemist t-shirt. Due to the re-fit you couldn't see much of the brewery at all though.
