You have to climb on hill, using more that hundreds stairs. But it's worth doing. The view you see is marvelous. Be aware of wind.:)

well if you have the time its certainly worth walking up behind the cathedral and up to the hill of three crosses. the crosses are built of white stone and stand proudlt astop of the hill. it takes from ground level only 10 or so minutes to walk to the crosses but it is quite steep walk. you can drive about half way if you have a car. most folk though would just find it a little tiring. the views over the city from the top are worth seeing and a good time to do would be sunset on a clear day.

Three Crosses (Lithuanian: Trys kryžiai) is a monument in Vilnius, Lithuania, designed by Polish–Lithuanian architect and sculptor Antoni Wiwulski in 1916. It was torn down in 1950 by order of the Soviet Union authoritiesThe origins of the monument are explained in a fictitious legend, written in the Bychowiec Chronicle among others, according to which seven Franciscan monks, who were invited to Vilnius from Podolia by Petras Goštautas, were tortured to death

there are stairs, a small street and a "forest"way to get on top. we Chose the muddy way through the forest to go up, which was probably faster than the street but also a Little adventurous :) we were lucky and went up there just before the sun went down which gave us an amazing view over the sundown!the Monument itselve is quite impressive and like from Castle hill, you have a great view over the City.

If you are visiting Gediminas Castle Tower, spent a little time to visit here too since it is just a short walk nearby. Walking up will give you a good exercise, especially at the last part leading up to the top. People used to challenge themselves by running up the slope to the top. If you drive, you can save a bit of walking but you still need to scale the steep slope since no cars are allowed past it :) View up there is great, with Vilnius city center in full glory.

The Hill of Three Crosses is visible from many points in central Vilnius and stands near to the Gedimino Tower Hill. Essentially it's a hill with, funnily enough...3 crosses on it. There is information at the top about the history of the crosses. It's a nice view and not too strenuous a walk up to the top. Worth the stroll if you have the time but if you only have the time to climb one hill then the Gedimino Tower view is by far the superior option.

Worth go boarded to have a look. also a good place overlooking all the old town of Vilnius.Good weather is must be. because it's all the way up the hill. If it is rainy or snow melt. Is dangerous .see the entire Vilnius Old town that you'll be enjoying the moment.

Fabulous view of the whole city! We drove upto the parking lot and then walked from there. Was a little chilly but worth the wind.

Three crosses hill is a monumental place to memorize the complicated baptism period in Lithuania. The history says, that there were seven Franciscans who were murdered by pagans in the absence of the great Duke Algirdas. It is said, that the Franciscans were tied to the crosses and dropped down from the hill to the river by saying: "swim with the idol, that you force us to worship". That is why afterwards the monument got the three crosses concept. Nowadays this place became one of the most visited places by tourists. First of all from here you can get one of the best panoramic views of Vilnius old town. Cathedral, St. Ann church, Pilies str., Gediminas avenue, everything at one place. Moreover, it is a great place for any celebration. Weather it is a New Years Eve or st. Johns celebration - it's always crowded. So if you want to chill out with locals, you definately have to come here. What about summer time sunsests? It's a great place to see off the long summer days and capture best moments. And last but not least, if you are an active free time lover, be sure you have your comfortable boots on, as there is a nice park with forest roads to climb up till the very hill. One place - many things to do!!

Nice place to visit on a sunny day, and a nice place to have a walk over the hill, which is actually rather steep, but while on the top offers a great view on the old town, a sunny day is better

Overwhelming experience. Big story. This is hard to imagine without seeing it. Even my photos pale compared to the over 100,000 crosses placed on the hill.

The reason we returned to Lithuania having not seen them our first trip. This is the most sacred site in Lithuania- and it is an awe inspiring and very moving site. Listed as 200,000 crosses it looked much more- the hill is covered in crosses great and small with pathways between them. Around the hill and reaching on either side crosses of all shapes and sizes, dedicated to various group, hanging from other crosses and from a great fir tree. The hill was begun in earlier centuries and then in the 1950's the Soviets decided to destroy it as they saw it as an expression of national unity as well as religious power. The people rebuilt, every time the Soviets removed their offerings they returned. It now stands as a shining example of the unbreakable human spirit and of the deep faith of the people. Not to be missed!

Nice panoramic view from top. But before that make sure you are fit enough to climb/ walk within this wooden stairs to up.

We took a taxi uphill as it is a strenuous climb for people with walking problems. The taxi cannot take you all the way up there. A minor climb and a staircase lead up the the view point under the three crosses. We had good weather which made the view even more enjoyable. The good thing about this vantage point is that it includes the towers, you would be standing on if you took any of the other viewing points. I wonder why there are not any benches to sit on up there?
