If in Patmos it is worth a visit. If you are a religious person tben of course it is worth visiting as it is the place where St Joh the apostle wrote the Book of Revelation.Inside no photographs are to be taken, but inside it is very nice to see. There is the section in the ceiling where the roof was split into 3, a section where the book was stood and an alcove where John was to have slept.Lots of steps so please bare this in mind x

To be honest, for me the almost only reason to book an excursion to Patmos was because it is the place were John did receive the Revelation (the last book of the NT). The best thing you can do while being there is just be quiet. Sit down and let the holiness of the place come to you. It is, or at least to me it was a great experience. Patmos itself isn't special. Just as most of the other small islands of Greece.

When you are on the island you have to visit this holy place where the apostle St. John wrote the book of Revelation, the Apocalypse, the last book in the New Testament. Don't visit when there is a cruiseship, because it is to crowdy. When it is quiet please stay there for a while and experience the energy.

If you love the Book of Revelation, you can't go to Patmos and not visit the cave that tradition says it was written. Unfortunately, photos are not permitted inside the cave but it is a very moving experience and hard to pull oneself away (considering the effort it takes to get to the island). A good place to quietly sit and meditate on the momentous events of this great book.

We decided so see it early in the morning. That was a good idea, not many tourists. NIce and calm. Many steps so don´t bring slippery shoes. You have to visit it while being on Patmos.

It is small and full of history, immaculately preserved. Going up and down the long stairway was worth it.

Beautiful chapel honoring St. John. Made special by presentation of local guide, Margherita. Some stairs to get there, but worth the effort.

A place of religious and historic significance, reminds one that people such as Saint Jean actually did exist...

The significance of this cave cannot be overlooked in Biblical history, but you must look past all the religious activities and icon worship to enjoy the significance. The view is spectacular looking over the harbor.

To be able to enter the space where St. John received and dictated the Book of Revelation. Upon entering the care, there is no doubt that this is indeed a holy place. One word of caution, shorts or bare shoulders are not permitted so even in the midst of summer, you must be well covered to enter the cave and it is hot in there. It's a very long walk, all up hill, so if you're not part of an organized tour, I recommend that you travel by taxi. They are plentiful and not very expensive.

the cave is worth a visit, as it is on the main road and does not take long to see what there is to see.

You should not miss the opportunity to visit the cave if you find yourself in Patmos. Either if you are a religious person or not, the place and the history (or legend) behind it is so rich and interesting that you have to live it from within. When inside, a priest will give you lots of useful information. You won't be allowed to take photos.

After visiting the monastery we decided to visit the cave...and I am so glad we did. I've read the Gospel of John and Revelations in the past but it was a very moving experience to put your hand in the handhold and see the rock pillow and where the rock split in three. We were warned of the rocky path but it was not that hard. Sure glad we didn't get discouraged from being there. The view from the top of the monastery was also beautiful. Well worth huffing up the hill!
