We were greeted with a smile by one of the receptionist and she was helpful in explaining the screen showing the virtual working areas of the Hydro System. It shows which stations are generating power. There is a reasonable gift shop and an area to have a coffee. Entry to this facility is free and there is a lot to read and look at as you go through the museum area. The theatrette isn't large however the film is well worth watching. Really quite impressive.Definitely a place to see.

A very informative centre explaining the Hydro system - much more complicated than I imagined. The video that is played in the theatre is well worth watching

Last visited Cooma in 1975 on way to ski fields. This centre gave so much information on the Snowy Mountains Hydro history and what they do know. Drove around to to see many of the dams and lakes after visiting this centre. A must visit place.

Free entry to find out all about the Snowy Mountains Scheme from the beginning when it was being built up to what the Scheme does for Australia today. There are short films to see, heaps of photos, exhibits, and you can even have a go on a bicycle to see how much you have to peddle to make enough electricity to make your toaster work or your kettle boil. They have some awesome souvenirs too.

Good to see the stories of the people that risked their lives to work on this fantastic project. Lots of original photos to see and a movie showing the planning and work from start to finish.

This well located Visitors Centre is free and staffed with knowledgeable people. A comprehensive set of photographs, artifacts and video easily takes up two hours. This is the story of one the biggest projects equal to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and just as Iconic. Many Australians started their life here. Migrants from all over Europe converged here after the War for work. There are some marvelous feats and unique engineering designs conceptualised here at that time like Rock Bolting.

We have visited this centre a few years ago but decided we needed another visit. We were not disappointed the information is displayed well with lots to read and absorb. There is a short video to watch which explains the Snowy Hydro Scheme very well. You can have a go on a bike and generate your own electricity, I made a piece of toast! There a few interactive displays which should keep all ages occupied. A visit that should not be rushed as there is so much to see.

I took my Dad down to the Snowy Mountains between Christmas and New Year 2014. Stopped twice here, the first time to go through the display and take a coffee break, the second time was on the way back to Canberra, because the coffee was so good. Dad is retired from the NSW Electricity Commission, so he was most interested in the display and information. The staff working there explained the exhibits to us and one in particular had excellent knowledge.

This centre presents a lot of information in great panels. The film is really well done. I came out knowing so much more than I ever realised about how impressive the whole scheme is and what a challenge it presented to the engineers. The cafe serves a rather good short black coffee as well.

Winnebago_Nomads

The centre has free admission, the staff are helpful and the scale models showing the scale of this engineering project are excellent. This scheme was truly a great example of the engineering ingenuity that Australia put together during it's construction. The DVD of the background of the project was very informative. It is to be hoped that this current Federal Government with it's bias against renewable energy and preference for burning fossil fuels does nothing to scale back the operations of this great facility. Federal MP's - keep your hands off it!

This is a great place to learn of the history of the construction of the Snowy Mountains Scheme and how it now helps supply clean electricity to NSW and Victoria.

We visited this centre in November, 2014. The centre has free admission and very helpful staff. There were a number of excellent scale models of the Scheme which gave one an excellent idea of the scale and scope of this amazing project. We particularly enjoyed the displays about the immigrants who came to Australia to build the Snowy and the locals reaction to the changes they brought. This provided an interesting human dimension to the story of an outstanding engineering feat. There is a small shop and a coffee bar, along with very nice, clean toilets.Well worth a visit.

Worthwhile to stop and check out this centre. Free entry which includes a short 20min film/doco on the Snowy Mountain and how it was constructed. Reasonable coffee shop and the typical touristy things to buy.

Nearing30

This is very well set up with amazing 'to scale replicas & models, interactive devices & informative films. The centre also has a votee shop that actually does good not chocolates and coffee :)

Rabbitfree

This "free" attraction is first class. The information and interactive displays are fist class. And the coffee shop's macadamia slice is superb.
