I was a little nervous to hike Gorda Peak, not for the hike (more like a walk) but because I was alone in a new place. It turned out to be just fine (maybe it was because I was soon loud walking through to ensure some unknown animal would get me or a snake would leave my path "think Parent Trap and hitting sticks together"-half kidding). Anyways, there are two green signs that say Gorda Peak which are the only indicators of the Peak itself, no parking area or anything like that. I came from Spanish Town and parked on the side of the road at the first green sign. The sign says 55 minutes but it was maybe 25 minutes...There is a small area almost to the observation tower where you can use a restroom (I just went in the woods because it looked awful), I obviously was feeling quite safe at this point (it helped that I passed another English speaking couple). Just beyond that is a tower that you climb to get the views. I walked the other way down just to see if it was harder. It was shorter... There are lizards, snakes, and who knows what else I passed on the path...Worth doing though!

Where do I even start with Virgin Gorda? Will it be the fantastic views, the lovely people or the beaches? Yes. It'll be the beaches. If you come to visit this island, it is one thing that must be done - to visit the beaches. Ironically, you've probably already see the Virgin Gorda beaches. The are the famous stock screensavers that Microsoft use on their computers. Huge boulders create small natural pools where fish thrive. Small houses have long, winding wooden paths leading to the beaches. Dense palm tree forests line the beach too. If this is sounding like some sort of fictional novel; good! Virgin Gorda's beaches are almost fairy tale. When I was young, I imagined the perfect beach to be very similar to Virgin Gorda's. Everyone should visit this beach, but then at the same time, nobody, to preserve it's beauty. Then there is the people. Everyone is so friendly, it just tops off the fantastic scenery that Virgin Gorda has to offer. If you'd like to see some photograph's of what you have to look forward to, just Google it. You'll find photographs that may look 'Photo-shopped', but I can assure you, it is just the natural aesthetics of this desert island in the Caribbean. If you ever get the opportunity to visit Virgin Gorda, you'd be a fool not to go. I can 'hand-on-heart' recommend Virgin Gorda - you, and everyone else on the planet, are going to love it as I do. All it takes is a 40 minute ferry ride from Tortola.

Both the long and short hikes are fun. The views from the platform at the top of the peak are stunning.

Stopped along the road on our way from Leverick Bay to Spanish town and hiked to the top. The trail is rocky but nothing outrageous. Along the way there is restrooms and picnic tables so you can bring a lunch. Once at the top the views are 360 degrees of the island and absolutely gorgeous. A must do to stretch your legs and you have a car.

Virgin Gorda is a sailing and other water activities hub in the British Virgin Islands. But if you go inland you can have a panoramic view of all the BVI. You'll need a vehicle of some sort (car is preferable) to get to the starting point of the trail to the "peak." It's about a half hour light hike uphill so be in good shape. Even though you're in the shade most of the time you'll work up a sweat. At the top are picnic tables and a lookout tower for the "view." we should have packed a light picnic for the tower because otherwise you just stand around looking.

The path to Virgin Gorda peak is rocky, but the vegetation is beautiful and we climbed to the top viewing deck pretty easily. "A lovely walk" as my kids say. Keep an eye out for Land Hermit Crabs which are fascinating. Signs are a bit misleading as one path says 45 mins to the top and the other says 20 mins. Must be island time - in a good way.

not a long hike.Pretty well signed. Decent view at the top (climb up the stairs/ladder to an observation platform)--the view from Hog Heaven was actually better (more unobstructed). We didn't see another person the entire time.

The Baths & The Caves,,, great place to snorkel and layout on the yacht. All of my best vacation photographs came from Virgin Gorda. The water is a beautiful turquoise to compliment the gorgeous skys. The customs process returning to USVI was very smooth as well. Highly recommend.

Tough to find the entrance, we parked on the side of the road near an outlook and walked back. Sign said it was an estimated 25 minute walk, more like 40 minute one way. The view was beautiful. Bit of a vertical narrow climb, have good shoes.

The views at the top are great, we went in June which is generally a hazy month and the view was still amazing. There was a bit of trash along the trail which was discouraging, pack in and pack out people! Don't be so lazy. We would definitely do the hike again

Out of words to describe the beauty of this place...you gotta go to understand why it is hard to describe. The area is just an adventure you don't imagine...the water is just beautiful and the landscape is breathtaking.

THis is a great hike 20 minutes to the top in a extreemly well marked train with the ability to climb a treehouse at the end to truly appreciate the 360 view of the islands. If you do it before sunset to see the sunset it is a spectacular view, but be sure to leave again before the sun sets, as it sets very quickly and gets dark just as quick. Also the mosquito come out in force.... but its really for one of the most spectacular views you may ever see. Wildlife you may encounter are that of: Green Snake, Scorpions, Tarantula, Lemurs (if they have escaped from neighboring Necker Island) Flamingos, Hermit Crabs, Land Crabs. Mongoose, Butterfly's (12 species), Humming birds, woodpeckers, white breasted boobies to make just a few. Perhaps you need a little bit of gumption to see them all. The hike is quite easy, and can be done in flip flops as the path is quite good, but i recommend sandles as a minimum. Make sure you leave it cleaner than you found it. Enjoy Natures Little Secret

I've hiked to Gorda Peak several times. The encounters along the trail and the views from the peak never cease to amaze me. They just seem to get better with every visit.

Our group of 9 used Sweet Ice Willie's transportation service while we were in the Baths/Virgin Gorda. He dropped us off, and was back at the pre-arranged time....just like he said he would be. Friendly, cheerful, and gave us a little tour of the island as we rode with him.....We thought he was great, and would definitely use him again, and recommend him to anyone.

There are only a few parking spots along the road, so come early. The hike is easy. The flora and fauna are only mildly interesting. Lots of hermit crabs and some stinky toes. The view from the top is what makes this hike worth while.
