Local men try to sell and bother you for photos for a bit of coin, but a tranquil escape with nice view of city, and paved paths to follow and walk along amongst trees and flora.

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen hold on to your hats! I'm not kidding the wind from the cable cart could blow it off. This whole place is amazing from the ride up to the walk around and the ride back down. I must warn of you're afraid of heights stay at home this is no place for you! If you like amazing panoramic views and a real feel for thrill then by all means go! The botanical gardens are beautiful and is a great place for a peaceful walk. There is also a restaurant and souvenir shop which I skipped. You can also take a look at the Jesus statue if you like. The sole piece of advice I can give you is skip the guides as they are not necessary. I initially refused the guides offer but he gave me a great deal so I went. It is best to say know as they can be really pushy.

The mountain is beautiful. From the statue of Jesus to the beautiful gardens up there. We enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend it.

Ride the cable car or drive up, then get a picture with Jesus and enjoy the botanical gardens. A great place to spend a relaxing day out!

This is probably the best attraction in Dominican Republic outside of its beautiful beaches. However, do not expect Christ the Redeemer amazing when you reach the top. I enjoyed walking around at the top of the island and I enjoyed the cable car ride (Teleferico) up. There are food, snacks, souvenirs, and beverages for purchase on site. I went with a tour company that conducted the Puerta Plata city tour and this was the longest part of the tour. Cable Ride up and back cost $200 pesos (U$25) per person which was included in the city tour for us. It is something you can do once. I enjoyed taking photos from the top and while the cable car was taking us up. I recommend all travelers and tourists visiting Puerta Plata take a few hours away from the beach one day and enjoy the view from above. Happy Travels!!!

Pick your times to go up here as there is usually a long wait for cable car as it is a popular tourist attraction. Photographers up there taking photos with your own camera with christ the redeemer, ok but then you feel obliged to buy something from them

Beautiful park and garden like setting await those who venture to the top of Mount Isabel de Torres. On a clear day the views are stunning but even if the clouds roll in this place is worth a visit. A mixed pine and deciduous forest provide shade and stone walkways guide you through the area to a logoon, lookout points, a bridge, caves and more. It's really beautiful. Bird life was abundant with Hispaniolian Woodpecker taking front stage, conspicuous and vocal. Bathrooms were available at several locations. A word of caution about slippery paths. Wear shoes with good traction and walk carefully. I found the easiest walking on the pavement or the gravel trails. The stone and cement walkways were treacherous.

You need to choose your day as the top of the mountain is often shrouded in mist which limits what you can see. The botanical garden is enjoyable to visit. Facilities are limited in quality, but nonetheless I would say it is worth putting up with that for the views and the gardens.

Once you get off the cable car, or get to the end of the hiking trail (4 hours vs. 20 minute cable car ride), there is a good map of all the things to see along the walk. Very enjoyable.

If it is cloudy don't waste your time going. We went on a cloudy day and didn't see anything but the Christ at the top. If you see any clouds just go another day!

Nice place for a day trip. Go early in the day while visibility is still good. We took this as part of a tour that included a city tour and it was perfect as all transportation and entrance fees were included for one price ($35). Book with Tours by James

We hired a taxi for the day , 4 or us and the driver was our guide too. You do not need a driver and a guide. Too much money. $50 for the day and a nice tip. Turkee was our drivers name and he was great. He took us to Mount Isabel de Torres and there is a nice restaurant theretoo. The rains came and we waited it out in the restaurant. Great trip ...

You can see it from everywhere. Just don't go inside since all it has there is people selling crap, but they at least negotiate.

The long, scenic cable car ride is good view and the views are fantastic. There is also a very nice botanical gardens/walking path at the summit. Definitely the number one attraction in the whole Puerto Plata area.

We really enjoyed our day..$50 each and we got a bus tour of the city and some attractions...Amber & Larimar Shop..Amber Museum..Fort,,Brugal Rum factory..Lunch..And of course a wonderful ride up the cable car to see Christ The Redeemer statue..The top of Mount Isabel de Torres was in a cloud..THe only cloyud in the beautiful blue sky day..It seem to be anchored over the mountatin..AA bit dissapointed that we couldnt see the view from the mountain..But at the same time it was a very unique experience as well..We could see fine in the cloud around us..We just couldnt see the ground below..Maybe next time..It really was worth the trip up..The view on the cable car was beautiful..We bought a couple of bottles of rum at the Brugal factory..Thinking we would get more at duty free on the way home..If you want rum don't wait..The Brugal factory is the cheapest place to buy rum by far..We didnt buy any at the Duty Free..WE highly recommend this tour..Ultimately you want the cable car ride which you can get to by cab..But its always good to get out and see the city...Even if you arent thrilled about the stops..Cheapest Rum and Cable car make it worthwhile..
