Wonderful building, great views from the roof terrace. The service was worse than usual - gruff response when we asked for tea. Two of our party left sitting behind a pillar - wouldn't have taken much to move the table. The lobster was 15 CUC extra - avoid this. It was overdone, rubbery, and horrid. I found the pianist unbearable.

this Moorish building is very different and once you walk up the spiral staircase you are in for a surprise and a drink if you paid the 2 CUC entrance fee!

We had a big day and really were ready for a cocktail by sunset. We were staying at the Hotel Jagua across the road and could see people drinking on the roof of the Palacio de Valle across the way so went over. After a bit of a climb up the spiral cast iron staircase we came out onto the roof where a great band was playing and we had the most beautiful view of the sunset over the bay (and the old, never commissioned, nuclear reactor on the horizon). The mojitos were poured ever so carefully using a nip measure and then topped up ever so carelessly without one. They were great, well priced and served briskly with a grin. I've seen worse sunsets a, heard worse music, drank worse cocktails and paid so much more for all of them.

A good example of how a restaurant in a very very nice palace can be affected by small details which turn it into a not recommended restaurant. The table cloth was dirty, with many stains and bread crumbs from previous guests. The food was OK, but they charged us 2,5 Euros for a local Cristal beer can.

The surrounding and the building may be beautiful, but the rest needs a lot of improvement! The table cloth was dirty, with many stains and bread crumbs from previous guests. The food was OK, but they charged us 2,5 Euros for a local Cristal beer can, which is clearly a tourist rip-off. As a restaurant, there are certainly better offers in Cienfuegos. The building is beautiful though.

We love this hotel. This is a very beautifull hotel near the sea. You can go up and look over the town.

It is an architectural jewel located in the Punta Gorda, and reminiscent of Spanish-Moorish art with influences of Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque and Mudejar arts. The bronze railing of the staircase, the shields, and ornaments on the front and all hardware are exquisite. All materials were imported - from the Carrera marble, Italian alabaster, Venetian ceramics, Spanish ironwork, and forgings, down to the Talavera mosaics and glass. The inscriptions indicate the nationality of the artisans involved in its construction - ‘There is no God, other than Allah’. Two sphinxes adorn the entryway standing guard. You can walk up the two flights of stairs and get a bird’s eye view of the area around Cienfuegos. The scene is idyllic, tranquil, and absolutely unspoiled.

You have to go on the rooftop and maybe also enjoy a drink up there since they have a bar. Do not pay to go on top because it's free, we didn't pay anything but we've heard that sometimes they ask for money. It has a beautiful overview of Cienfugos.

Amazing Moorish style palace which you can explore freely, including going up on the roof. The building gets tattier as you go up in true Cubna style but was still worth the climb for the views out over the bay. There is a rooftop bar and a restaurant.

Walked by this beautiful building, but didn't have time to stop for food or drinks on the terrace. At the end of the main road by Punta Gorda.

Well worth the 2CUC's each to wander round this old hoteland then sit and relax on the roof top terrace overlookingthe bay with our free drinks.

More akin to a palace in Morocco, it is still a fascinating building to see in Cuba. Didn't feel the need to pay the fee to see the whole building but nonetheless, interesting enough for a drive-by.

I don't like state restaurants in Cuba, so I skipped the restaurant and went all the way to the bar. They did not charge me for the entrance. Up top I got the best pictures of punta gorda and the Cienfuegos bay.

Mad beautiful building in full Italian ice-cream-Gothic style, this is a must for a photo, let alone the the roof-top bar. We spent a very happy night up there sampling the various cocktails and eventually being dragged into enthusiastic but poorly executed dancing by some locals to a good band who were easily encouraged to continue with a few rum--based bribes. Incidentally you cant see the sunset from the roof as the building actually faces east not west - presumably the other reviewers (inc Lonely Planet & Rough Guide) drank even more than we did - or stayed much longer and got confused

You can enter the palacio and will be surprised by beautiful Moorish architecture. Take also a look at the rooftop and see the punta gorda from above. Our casa particulares was only 5 minutes walking from this building, bahía sol. Unfortunately not on tripadvisor, but so fantastic with sunset views on the bay!
