Worth the visit.... the church architecture is not usual.... it looks like a castle -not similar to other Catholic Churches.

This Catholic church has masses in English, Visayan and Tagalog. Its claim to fame is the worlds biggest prayer beads as certified by the Guinness Book of Records. Painted black each wooden bead is linked by a chain, located at the rear of the church. The church is large but if you want to stay cool sit at the sides under the wall fans. God bless!

We went to Tagum City which is about 2 hours by bus from Davao City last April 6-12 to participate in the 2014 National Prisaa Games. One of the incredible sites is the Christ the King Cathedral which has a unique design because the front looks a modern 4 story building while the back portion looks like a castle. This was built ten years ago yet the unparallelled design of this place of worship makes it look recent. At the back is another attraction, the big rosary and a serene garden where u can also stroll and meditate. The big rosary though gives it an amusement park ambiance.Getting there is a breeze. Take their green-colored tricycle which looks like a short jeepney attached to a motorbike and pay only 10 pesos per head or 40 pesos if less than 4 heads. We paid 50 pesos from the sports stadium known as the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Center (DNSTC) because its a quite a distance. The DNSTC itself is another attraction. It has an eight lane oval with enought lights to watch the soccer games at night, an airconditioned basketball court, an olympic size swimming pool beside a fast food restaurant and a tennis court. It is still a work in progress last April because the baseball diamond is still being constructed as well as some other additional sports facilities. We (athletes, coaches, technical and delegation officials) felt safe and secure because of the presence of peacekeeping forces all over Tagum City durng the Prisaa National Games. Kudos to the local governent and religious officials for making our one week stay memorable.

Peaceful, and unique... I was told the Cathedral was built only a few years ago, but it is very "Art Deco" in style, and looks as though it might have been built almost a hundred years ago. I think it is a beautiful building, and there is a well tended garden, with the Stations of the Cross. Visiting this fine Cathedral was one of the high spots of my trip to Tagum City.

It was a nice experience coming to this cathedral attending the mass for the first time and some other times, attending a wedding twice. But only lately when i went around the vicinity of this beautiful and serene place of worship that i saw its exceptional beauty. The back portion is like a castle different from the facade. This was made at around a decade ago and it is now becoming a popular destination for visitors not only for attending the mass but also to see the unique features within the compound. The biggest rosary i have ever seen.

This splendid cathedral was built about ten years ago and it is clear they were willing to spend a great deal of money on it. This cathedral is designed around the fact that it is dedicated to Christ the King. When I parked in the back of the cathedral, its castle-like motif was evident there. Inside a large statue of Christ wearing a statue stands near the altar. Attractive metal grill-doors all along the left and right sides of the church can be used to enter--these grills have a crown-like motif in the center. These grill-doors allow breezes to travel through the cathedral. An alpha and omega motif is prominent in the church (using the two traditional Greek letters for the alpha and omega). Christ is the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, in Rev. 22:13. Heavy rains began when we first entered the cathedral, so we sat inside for an hour. I enjoyed sitting for an hour in this well-designed building. Behind the cathedral, for those interested, is "the largest rosary in the world." There is separate treatment of this in tripadvisor.
