Snorkeling was fun, interesting coral and clear water. When we exited the chair lift and went to the reservation shack, a young man brought us to a clam shell under a tree and set up everything for us. This is definitely a cruise ship created atmosphere. I liken it to Disney with perfectly manicured lawns and pristene walkways. If you are looking for authentic culture, get off the beach and take an excursion. If you want to swim and chill out, this can be the perfect free excursion. We reserved the snorkeling/clam shell package. Many people just grabbed a chair in the shade which would have worked well. The day was a little overcast with threatening clouds, but we didn't let that stop us. Since there was only one ship in port that day, the beach was pretty open. The music was just loud enough to provide atmosphere, but not so loud that you couldn't converse. There were several bars/restaurants on the beach and everyone seemed to have a good time. We didn't eat there, so tha's not something I can speak to. Overall a very nice beach and environment. The cabana weren't open that day and they faced the cruise ship rather than the open water. It was interesting to see as we walked by and I dont' know that I'd reserve those after having seen them.

Beautiful beach, clear water but watch out for the sun if you come from northern climes. We enjoyed our day at Mahogany Bay Beach, sunning, eating and shopping. Maybe it wasn't exciting but it certainly was restful and relaxing. Next time we will probably explore other facets of Roatan but we don't regret our visit to Mahogany

We walked off the Carnival Dream and enjoyed a pleasant walk to the beach(the lifts are not needed and you will miss seeing the beautiful flowers and plants on the way to the beach). We left our ship early in the morning so we did get chairs. Lots of people did not get chairs. The beach is beautiful. We stayed for a few hours and needed to leave because the chairs were uncomfortable. There is no charge for using this private beach for Carnival cruisers. We also enjoyed the shopping and purchased a t-shirt.

As far as cruise ship ports go this was the standard fare. It was pretty to look at and had some nice places to sit. If you are looking for a beach day then it will be fine however, it would be a shame to visit this island off the coast of Honduras and NOT actually leave the port to see some of the island.

We really liked the flying beach chair. It would be a nice easy walk but the chair was fun and you can ride as much as you want $10/pp/ pd. The stores were nice but the same stores you see in a cruise port (diamonds/ tanzanite international, del sol, etc.) There were a few variations but not many. The beach was nice. Get there early if you want a beach chair that you can actually see the beach from . They go back quite a way and the beachfront isn't huge. There is a small boardwalk at the end of the beach and kids were snorkeling out there. we saw a sting ray and a few large pencil fish just standing on the boardwalk. There are a couple stores and a few bars on the beach. The bar had good beef nachos and coke. :-)

We visited Mahogany Beach during a cruise. It wasn't a pretty beach but we had a great time. There were lots of lounge chairs and a few eat venues/bars. The prices were reasonible...we enjoyed jerk chicken, beans & rice, and plaintains for about $8.00.

Isla Roatan is located just off the coast of Honduras. It is small but pretty and whether you tour the island by taxi or coach, you can see all the sights in a matter of hours. Inland the island is lush with tropical vegetation, there are many tine villages and the locals are happy, helpful and considerate to visitors. I would recommend a tour although if you've arrived on a cruise ship you might have been encouraged to head for Mahogany Bay beach. This is a private beach approximately 8 minutes walk from the ferry terminal and you can gain free entry if you have a cruise ship room card. Lovely sea to swim in, lots of deckchairs, changing facilities, restaurants and bars. This was one of my favourite days from our Carnival cruise, a morning seeing what is a beautiful island and a swim in the sea alongside a soft sand beach.

My wife and I love to cruise in the Caribbean and we always stop at the Diamonds International Store. Previously I had gotten a pendant necklace for her the evidently she had never really cared for. We met Roger, the store manager and were able to trade it in for one that she really liked. The deal that he made us ended up with us receiving more that we originally payed for it. I cannot begin to emphasize how much customer satisfaction is an integral part of their business practices. Roger and his entire staff were the perfect example of how to treat customers.

We spent a lovely day on the beach in a private cabana with restaurant service right to the cabana, security, reserved hammocks and beach chairs, and air-conditioning on a lovely private beach area. We also had unlimited trips on the Flying Beach Chair back to the port where all the shops are. The locals are extremely friendly there and the shop workers don't badger you into buying things. The cabana was worth every penny and allowed us to lock up our items when we wanted to swim out in the bay. The water is warm, too, which is awesome.

Even though it's a man made beach it was paradise. Loved the water, beach chairs, and the best thing...no locals hounding you to buy their trinkets

I dunno..I just payed a big chunk of money on a cruise to be piled up on a beach, is not my way of relaxing. The great aspect of it is that you don;t need to pay a cent to go there contrary to all the other beaches you stop too. It's too busy and not exotic enough. Pay a bit more to visit the island and experience a real beach!!

This beach is absolutely beautiful. The water is perfect, and there's plenty of lounge chairs available. We had a great time swimming, sunbathing, collecting seashells and just enjoying the beautiful weather! Here's my problem with this beach: talking to the locals, they aren't allowed to go there. Upon entering the beach, you have to show your ship card to security to be let in. I think this is just ridiculous- I live in Calgary, and how upsetting would it be if part of the beautiful mountains were blocked for tourists only and myself and other locals can't go? I found this to be wholly unfair to the locals. I suppose part of me understands why, but at the same time, it is unfair to reserve an entire beach for cruisers who only spend a few hours there a day. We spoke to many lovely locals and I felt that it's completely ridiculous that I- a person from a cruise ship in Honduras for maybe 5 hours- can go to a beautiful beach that they can't enter. That's just my take on it. I did enjoy the beach a lot, that was my only concern with it. Roatan is absolutely beautiful with some of the most polite locals I've met. I would absolutely love to return!

Beautiful path from the port, lots of lounge chairs. The short nature path that starts behind the duty free shop is kinda cool. Snorkeling was great on the far side of the pier and out about 40'

Set up specifically for the cruise ships, this place is really nice. Great security, and wait staff. You can ride across the river to the beach from the port on a ski type lift that gives you a good view of the area. Lot's of shopping before or after you head to the beach. Get there early if you want a chair or clam shell up front on the beach. There are lots of palm trees, so you really don't need a clam shell to get some shade. Staff is very attentive and helps you set up, then waiters come around frequently for food and drinks. Food is pretty decent for a beach bar. Clean restrooms are close. Nice sandy beach and you can walk off the beach into waist deep fairly clear water. The further you go, the deeper it gets until about head deep at the ropes marking the swimming area. Down on the other side of the small pier you can snorkel. Lots of fish and the reef is really close and beautiful. You can also zip line through a part of the jungle if you want. One of the best stops on our cruise. Beach access is free if you want to walk over to the beach and lay on your own towel. Charges for the chair lift, lounge chairs, floats, clam shells and food and drink. Snorkels can also be rented.

This bay is beautiful, they are constantly cleaning it and there are lots of stores to shop at, and friends said the snorkeling was amazing. We felt very safe here. Clean and new bathrooms. You can take an over head cable ride to the beach and back ($12) it was worth the ride and the amazing view!!!
