You will enjoy every minute of the lecture and leave with new knowledge about the bald eagle and other raptors. While entertaining that is just a byproduct of a very good albeit short (20 min) lecture. You will be closer than you probably ever will be to all these raptors. It is time well spent. I live in Sitka but still enjoy the Raptor Center. The only con is they tend to wait for late bus' waisting everyone else's time. This seldom happens but when it does it is a real pain.

Such a beautiful price a little spendy but for a good cause - all those birds are so well taken care of and have nice habitats because of visitors

If you only have a few hours to spare in Sitka, please try and make this a priority! This was my second visit to the Alaska Raptor Centre, my first one being in August of 2005 and my second in July of 2015. The main difference was that the first time was the day a major cruise ship was in town and this had the advantage of a special lecture by a ranger and they brought a couple of the raptors on the stage for a very close viewing. This time we showed up on a slow day with no cruise ship in town. There was no lecture and no birds seen close up, but we had the added plus of having the place to ourselves and not having to jockey for position in order to take photos. The Alaska Raptor Centre is a very special place. We learned that veterinarians volunteer their time to treat injured birds and teach them how to fly again with a view to releasing them back into the wild. In 2003 , a unique state of the art flight training centre was established to teach injured birds how to fly again in a very safe and controlled environment. It is a fantastic place to learn about the raptors, take amazing photos and see how much love and knowledge has been put to excellent use in giving back these birds their lives. It is a wonderful feel good experience. We took a cab here and then walked to the Totem Park.

This was an excellent place to see Eagles up close and in the wild. We saw an eagle up close with its trainer and also outside. The wild Eagles were flying around the property too. There were also owls on display. They do a lot of good work in rehabilitating injured birds also. Just a great experience.

This is a must see for those who are on a cruise ship and want a quick glimpse of what a small part of Alaska's wildlife is all about.

We are glad that we stopped at the Alaska Raptor Center. It is a great opportunity to see a large variety birds close up and learn of the wonderful job that they do with rehabilitation. Tootsie the owl at the front desk was worth the trip all by herself!

Our family went there about 20 years ago and we have a lasting impression of their good works. The center saves a lot of eagles which have been injured and need medical treatment. They depended on donations for funding. This is a worthwhileoperation and you will learn a lot if you go there.

When in Sitka, the raptor center should be on everyone's bucket list with their trip to Alaska. The center's mission is Bald Eagle & birds of prey rehabliitation, public education, & bald eagle research. A wonderful family activity. We were sitting in front of the handler with one of the eagles, who spread their wings - one of the most glorious, awesome, and humbling sights I've ever seen. The staff is so knowledgeable and the facility so well done. Be sure to go and adopt an Eagle or classroom to help the Raptor Center and the magnificent birds who are there.

Although you can see Bald Eagles everywhere in Sitka, here you get to see them up close and , other raptors and large birds. Very knowledgable staff, be sure and go!

Another great attraction in Alaska. We were in Sitka just for a day on a cruise ..but had this attraction on our "to do" list. It is a wonderful facility where the people are making a great effort to bring injured raptors back to health, hopefully (though not always) to the point where they can be released back into the wild. But there is a home for life for those unable to fend for themselves again in the wild. Endless photo opportunities, a very good gift shop, walking trails etc - and all an easy walk from the town. I believe there may also be a shuttle bus available.

The raptor center offers an educational environment combined with a worthy cause. They have many areas for family fun for young children and outdoor activities that satisfy all ages. Great walking trails ( be sure to ead warnings in spring of wildlife on trails including bears ) . They have care facilities for wounded animals and open areas for habitat observation. Great place for an afternoon outing. Gate price and gift shop very affrdable.

I visited the Raptor Center as part of a visit to Juneau for Whalefest 2014. Since it was the off season, there were no formal tours (and no admission price). They did have a donation box. We were free to walk the grounds and come into the center. The visit started with a poster on the front door "The eagle has landed ... Now it is our job to get hm flying again". My biggest surprise was that they had two golden eagles in addition to the bald eagles and other raptors. I took a large number of pictures and left a donation at least as much and the normal admission price.

I visited with my family for the first time in August 2013. The facility itself is fine. The animals are interesting. The employees or volunteers, which ever they may be lacked a lot to be desired. My father was interested in purchasing a walking stick pin. We couldn't find them in the gift shop so I asked for help. The young lady treated us as if we were annoying her by simply being there. I let an older lady at the front desk know how unhelpful and rude she was but I feel like my concerns probably feel on deaf ears.
