If you're a local or a visitor, this is a perfect way to get downtown. You'll have fabulous views of the Alaska Range, Cook Inlet, and downtown Anchorage, and you can ride your bike or walk to do stuff downtown. I take this trail to & from work all summer long. It's so fabulous that I often stop to take pictures along the way, and I've lived here since 1985!

I walked briefly along this trail and what a beautiful trail it is. In the winter, you can cross country ski or run or use your fat tire bike. Great views throughout and many jump on/off points and scenic pull outs. Excellent way to get some exercise in while visiting Anchorage.

Anchorage has a wonderful trail for bicycling, walking or, in the winter, cross-country skiing that goes along the coastline of Cook Inlet. There are maps available online and at the tourist office and the tide schedule so you can time your walk for viewing the bore tides. Watch for moose and, in some rare instances, bears! View Sleeping Lady and, on clear days, Mt. Denali (Mt. McKinley). There are parking areas along the route you can leave your car to adjust the amount of time you are on the trail.

Quiet wilderness experience; great views; saw eagle; saw Mt. McKinley and Sleeping Lady. Wished we knew boretide schedule so we could have seen that come in.

Nice place to walk or bike ride. The views are lovely especially at sunset. Can be a little busy on nice days.

Watch out for the wild moose running around! A beautiful cycle trail that can be completed in a few hours at a leisurely pace.

Didn't walk the whole trail, but loved the parts we did walk. Went in January so super slippery in some places but not too bad.

Liked: Length, view, wildlife, water, people....Disliked: Rough spots, some fast cyclists, various dogs, leaves on the trail creating a slippery surface.ALL in ALL, I LOVE IT!

This experience certainly lived up to the high praise given by previous reviewers. My 12 year old and I rented bikes at Pablos, at the north end of the trail. It was handy to have a pocket map of the trail but not necessary, as there were descriptive signs along the way and many of the landmarks along the way are unmistakable. There were many walkers and bikers along the way. We biked perhaps 7 of the 11 miles (and back, which used up our bike rentaltime). There were a couple of slopes that were challenging, but one could certainly get off the walk these slopes. The dramatic changes in surroundings is delightful. The highlights for us included the wooden bridge over the marsh (lots of wildlife), the beach with its mud flats patterns, view of volcanoes across Knik Arm, and view back north toward downtown Anchorage. We did not see any moose but did have a plane take off directly overhead at the end of Anchorage International Airport. In retrospect, maybe I should have told my daughter that was a possibility as she was quite startled!

One of Anchorage's hidden jewels, our walking trails throughout the entire town. The coastal trail is not the best but it is certainly probably the most well known and definitely worth the walk!

The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail connects with Anchorage's wonderful bike trails. You can literally circumnavigate the city with minimal interaction with road traffic.Ice skating in winter can be enjoyed near the trail at Westchester Lagoon where Parks and Recreation keep the ice cleared for skaters. Sometimes there is a burn barrel or two where you could warm up.

Walked the full 11 mile trail: Pretty, with some nice views but nothing spectacular (especially compared to the surrounding area). Well-maintained. Mosquito repellent is strongly recommended, especially near Earthquake Park.

Beautiful views and a great place to walk and bike. My husband enjoyed running early in the morning when it was quiet. This trail is downtown and right on the ocean.

Amazing walk along ocean - a bit of wilderness - saw eagle and lots of birds on lagoon. Multi-use trail with bikers, runners, walkers. Very fast tides. Incredible.

My favorite is to go for a bike ride and catch the trail. You have to watch out for moose and stay on your side of the trail. Busy because it is so nice. Great views of the ocean and the outskirts of the city. Wonderful way to spend the day
