We stayed at the Buckhorn State Resort Park. The view of the lake was beautiful from our balcony. The sandy beach and pool were really nice. It is far off the beaten path but for rest and relaxation you can not fine a better place.

Nestled between majestic Appalachian mountains, this is a marvel that I won't suggest you miss. The view across, no matter what time of day, is just gorgeous. I haven't been in the lake though; neither swimming nor boating. The most amazing sight to me was one evening just after it had rained. Immediately after the clouds cleared, the sun shone over the lake producing a magnificent reflection. The sun's warmth led to evaporation on the mountains and these came out as cloud rising from the mountains the drifting upward.Simply magnificent; breathtaking in all aspects.

This lake is nasty and people should not be able to swim in it, the rocks hurt your feet and they are twigs and nasty things floating In the water once I saw a syringe.

This is a small lake, so you do not have to worry about ski boats. Needs to be cleaned up, trash was everywhere. Sad, because it is beutiful lake.

We met at Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park for a meeting and the staff was wonderful. Provided us a perfect meeting space with a breathtaking view of the lake. All the staff were very helpful. During the winter, the restaurant is closed during the week so we actually spent the night elsewhere but have stayed in the past and enjoyed wonderful meals.

This is a great place to visit. It reminds me of Kentucky Lake. Very pretty.

I didliked the fact that we had a breakfast that was tasteless. I would rather pay and eat a good hearty breakfastt.

BLSRP, located approximately 20 miles northwest of Hazard, Ky., has all your amenities that you come to expect at a state resort park: comfortable rooms, delicious food from their restaurant, plenty of recreational activities, beautiful surroundings, lakes, fishing, etc. The one thing that makes this state park distinct is its seclusion (similar to Cumberland Falls). Its in the Daniel Boone National Forest located at the end of the road deep in the heart of Kentucky Appalachia. We passed through and were greeted by friendly staff. We were only ones there it seems (it just snowed), nonetheless they were very friendly. I’ve been to many places where the expression was disappointment that they had to actually work. We ate lunch there, the kitchen manager took our order, cooked our meal, served us, and I’m sure washed our dishes. Friendliness goes a long way, I was gratefully reminded of that on that particular trip. With that being said, I will go back and recommend it to anyone out there.
