Stay in one of the lodges (or a rustic cabin even!) if you have the opportunity! They are affordable and the park is really beautiful, I was pleased with our stay and everyone was friendly. We were the only guests I believe during the snow, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & our children loved all the space in the timberlodge. It had Direct Tv which was nice because it helps the kids to wind down at night. The pool and snack area obviously were not open through the winter, but the views are so beautiful no one missed having a pool! :)

One of our favorites each year. Beautiful park at a great time of the year. The lake and forest are gorgeous. We would like to explore the hiking trails on a future visit.

We stayed for just 2 nights - there were 4 of us (2 couples) and we had a good time. It is hard to find a site for a tent that is perfectly level though. Even walking the entire property - most had a bit of a lean (even the pads you can park on). The restrooms and showers were nice and clean. Since there is water and electric at the sites - there was NO RV generator noise ever going on. People seemed to be very respectful of the quiet times are night too. We would go back again. Hiking down to the bridge was fun. A relaxing getaway - and less than 2 hours drive from Nashville - a plus when you only have a quick weekend!

We have camped here several times. The spaces are nice. The restrooms are nice. There is a game room with corn toss boards and ping pong. There are marbles areas also. There is pool during the summer and paddle boats on the little lake.We have also stayed in one of the rustic cabins and one the really nice cabins over Christmas. Livingston is not too far for groceries or a Red Box.There is also a winery in Livingston. It is very small; some of the wine choices werepalatable.

My family spent a day exploring area parks and trails, and we ended up visiting Standing Stone. It's not too surprising that we're anxiously awaiting a return trip. We noted the abundance of activities available, cabins to rent, camping spaces for tents and trailers, and the access to lots of trails. The prices for the rentals are very reasonable, and everything appears to be in very good condition. The scenery is breathtaking, especially with our visit being in the midst of the leaves changing. Standing Stone is a great place for any type of visit - big kids, little kids or a quiet getaway or a fun-filled family trip. There are lots of maps and information booklets available at the park office. Although the employee working wasn't the most warm and inviting, we were able to get the details that we needed to make our visit worthwhile.

The park was beautiful, but if you plan on staying the night... take an air mattress.. the beds are horrible

I needed to get a way to relax and just recharge, and boy did I ever here at Standing Stone... I stayed 5 nights in the campground and I could not have had a better experience, so much to do here, with basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, playgrounds and great walking and hiking areas. Bathhouses were clean, and well maintained. The grounds were very clean and well taken care of... The park itself is gorgeous, and the staff is very friendly, nice and very helpful.. I highly recommend a visit here, you will not be disappointed. Overall it was a wonderful week. I can't wait to get back......Soon..

We stayed 2 nights in the campground and could not have had a better experience. Bathhouses were clean, and well maintained. The grounds were free of garbage and litter. The other campers were very respectful of each other acknowledging the quite time with very few distractions. The park itself is gorgeous. I highly recommend renting one of the pedal boats or john boats and exploring the Kelly lake, you will not be disappointed. Overall it was a wonderful weekend and we look forward to returning in the near future.

We stayed 2 nights in the rustic cabins. Not only is the park VERY beautiful, but it was nice getting away from technology. In the rustic cabins there is no TV, phone, or internet, but there is all of the other conveniences like frig, microwave, & coffee pot. The cabins also include all of the dishes & linens which we were grateful for since we were on a motorcycle. They take a lot of pride in their park & it shows, as it is VERY clean. They have a lot of areas for get togethers, down by the water & in the wooded areas of the park. The help they have in the office is also friendly & went out of their way to help. There is also wildlife everywhere & these are cabins in the woods-so don't be shocked if you see a little 4-legged critter in your cabin. We enjoyed our time there & will be back.

My mother went on her highschool senior trip here in 1950. So, its an old park with much history and traditions. There have been Europeans in this area for nearly 300 years. From nearby Livingston to here you can see early mines, evidence of logging and much more. The interior area of Overton County, straight north from Cookeville (Putnam County) used to have general stores and restaurants, most of which lay abandoned now.Anyway, taking the main road into the park you'll see the heart of Tennessee. Like most State Parks, it seems a bit overbuilt with amenities, but the access to the river is very good, and ideal for fishing. I'm not sure I would make a special trip here, but if you're in the area drive in and relax deep in the heart of Ol' Hickory country.

We visited the Standing Stone State Park the middle of October. This was our first visit to this park. We did not find the hiking trails very well marked or easy to find. Also we were almost attacked by a dog that was not on a leash. It got within a foot of us before the owners caught up and restrained the dog(not a good experience) We will probably not return to this park

The park is very scenic. We drove through to see what it was like and were not disappointed. We plan on renting a cabin when we come back to visit family.

A beautiful stone dam, a swinging bridge and a scenic lake make Standing Stone a good place for a picnic or to take a break from stress. The park is not very big and has few amenities that really make it a destination.

As a family (Grandparents,Aunts,Uncles,Cousins,etc..) we have been going to the Standing Stone State Park every summer for over 40 years. As a kid, this was the best family get together-olympic sized pool, walking trails, fishing. The cabins have always been rustic-no tv or telephones (which was actually very nice-no distractions), and we always had to clean a little before settling in. The last time we went, 2 summers ago, I was VERY disappointed. Our cabin took me 3 hours to clean-from re-washing dishes, scrubbing the bathroom, washing the whole cabin floor and wiping down the mouse turd counter tops. We always bring extra sheets, and good thing, I went to bed and had mouse turds on my sheets. The maintainance people were EXTREMELY helpful and apologetic and placed mousetraps (we're in the woods, mice are understandable, just NOT on my bed). I also don't like that to get a cabin booked you must call in at a certain time 2 years before you want to stay. We went every year, we were guaranteed tourism, but since the changes and cutbacks on staff (plus, Sharon in the office was not very friendly) this once beautiful and fun place to stay is no longer on our places to stay. It is a nice cheap vacation and the pool is nice.

A very nice state park with camping a cabins. It is off the beaten path but adequate shopping if needed is within 17 miles of the park. The campground has 20/30/50 amp service and water. A dump station is near the entrance. Very wooded so chances of satellite signal is slim to none. Many level sites. I parked my motorhome at site 19 near the bathhouse. The pool is excellent and charges a small fee to campers. There is a hotdog/hamburger stand at the pool. Hiking opportunities are minimal and it is way to hilly for much biking.
