Had a tire on our motorhome go down around 4:30-5:00 pm and felt lucky we were able to pull off I-40 before it went flat so pulled into the station that had a tire service attached to it. We were waiting for someone to help us for about 45 min. as they were working on another vehicle. We finally got someone to work on the tire and it took them at least 1/2 hour to find the right size ratchet to remove the tire. They finally checked out the tire that they at first said a bad stem and turned it had a hole in it. This took quite some time. Finally they declared that they could not fix the tire and put it back on the motorhome because it was against the law to fix it and put it back on so decided we needed a new tire. They really gouged us on the price but we were not able to go anywhere without the tire so had to pay the price which was double what would be charged anywhere else. We went to leave and the motorehome made a clunking/thumping noise so turned around and went back. Guy said oh it had to be their parking lot. So we take off onto hiway again. The motorhome was shaking and bouncing up and down so bad we had to go to the nearest town to stay in a hotel overnight. Next day went to another tire dealership who had to remove the tire and notified us that the tire had been mounted incorrectly and in fact was so unbalanced that we could have rolled the motorhome that night had we not stopped when we did. The tire was mounted so crooked it was hitting the caliper on the frame.and was so unbalanced it bent the plate that held the hub cap on. We ended up having to pay to have this all done over again. The best part is still to come. They charged us for a tow charge because it was after 5:00 pm at $60 per hour when we drove right to their tire shop door and they had not had to tow us. They also charged us a tire removal fee (this is hilarious) since we took the tire with us to be fixed when we return home. Bet there is no law for us to put it on as a spare after the hole is fixed.....really recommend you keep driving to another location if you don't have a blow out because your wallet will definatley experience a blowout if you stop here!

This is a good truck stop as it is easy to maneuver in and out of, everything is clearly marked, and they don't price gouge you at the pumps (are about the average price).

This museum is the most interesting part of my 3 week trip the cars are in better condition then when they were brand new and in the show room each and every car starts and drives even though I only spotted this museum by accident I still glad I came

Just back from a trip along I-40 and we had the pleasure of hitting this quality truck stop both ways. On our first leg we stopped to see the cars and vehicles and were immensely impressed. Great collection of cars in superb shape. Art, the owner, was kind enough to answer a number of questions for us.On the way back we ate at the diner and each of us had a tasty hot meal. Good service and prices. Kinda weird that there is also a Subway inside. If you go, forget the pedestrian chain sub place and get a meal for not much more at the diner!Very recommended!

We were very surprised to find such an interesting, unusually clean restaurant, car museum, antique collection, souvenir and quick-stop grocery store at a gas station!! There was so much there! I know there were also showers for truckers, I believe, a chapel and probably more that we missed. We wished we had more time to spend there because there was so much to see. We could have spent a couple of hours in the museum alone . It all looked brand new but apparently has been there a few years.

Was planning on a quick pit stop for me and the dogs. Ended up spending some time there. With the car museum, clean bathrooms, nicely stocked store and small fenced in dog run it a great place to stop!

Living in Bard, Russell's is THE place to go if we need something NOW! They truly seem to have everything there, groceries, restaurant, laundry, souvenirs, you can even sit and watch TV in the TV room! The restaurant is good, we have only had breakfast there, but a dinner stop is in the near future. While you are there, you MUST stop at the car museum. Someone has some BIG money for all those great cars in there. Whoever is working the door (the museum is free) is more than willing to talk if you want and point out things for you to see. This is a MUST stop if you are traveling on Route 66 and is a "should" stop if you are racing through on I-40.

This travel center is a great stop to stretch. There is a free car museum inside that was well worth the time to go through it. The cars are in wonderful condition and the owner was very obliging, even taking pictures of us in front of the cars. You can get food, gas and souvenirs here as well. A nice stop just inside New Mexico after leaving Texas.

We were driving Route 66, on one of those stretches where you have no choice but the I-40, in need of a comfort break and fuel, when we saw the sign for Russell's. What a pleasant surprise! Not just a high-quality service area, food fuel and an extensive store to browse through, but a wonderful car and road museum with such a welcoming curator. Even my wife (who strangely doesn't share my fascination with cars and planes) loved it. Our 15-minute break thus took over an hour, and our only puzzlement was why it had not been listed in any of the 3 or 4 guide books we had for Route 66. This center maybe wasn't there in the 1950s, but it captured the spirit of Route 66 in the best way possible. The story of how the family business came to be is also worth looking up. Well done, Russell family - America should be proud of what you have done (From a Brit!).

I just love going there purposely. I stop there quite a bit. Awesome car museum. Friendly place. Good food, drinks, snacks. Recommend highly. Outdoor seating to enjoy views of area.

All you can eat Catfish special only $10.99 with fries and slaw, What?! And it was good too. This little gas station pitstop was a surprise to say the least. I don't know why we didn't go to more of these or see these sooner. They have a convenience store, gift shop, clean restrooms, showers and lounges for the truckers, a restaurant and a route 66 museum full of cars and other blasts from the past, and it's free! They decorate the whole place with old toy cars and other toys all around the place on shelves and all over, This collection must have taken a LONG time I mean there is SOOOO much stuff to look at. The people were all really friendly and this being out in the middle of nowhere makes you wonder just where they came from or where they commute from. We just came for gas and a clean restroom but stayed for the museum and the dinner special at the restaurant. I was really impressed with this little stop out in nowhere land and would certainly recommend them as your pit stop of choice.

We talked about cars with the waitress at Mid Point Cafe in Adrian, TX and they said if you like old cars you have to stop at Russell's. We did stop, and found that recommendation was correct!Mr. Russell has an amazing display of his classic cars. Judging by photos from other visitors the display changes so he must have many more than you will see at any one visit. There is no charge to visit this "museum".The collection has lots of variety but seems to focus mainly on cars of the '50's. We saw Chevys and Fords of course, but also a '56 Oldsmobile convertible (one of my very favorite cars!), '54 and '56 Pontiac convertibles, and a '53 Olds convertible. Did I mention many of his cars are convertibles? :) Also a 'red '79 Trans Am (yes, they did come in colors other than black!).Most all the cars are upscale models, like the Ford Victoria and Chevy Cameo pickup, making this a valuable collection and a treat to see. All are beautifully restored, fully detailed, and nicely displayed along with other nostalgic memorabilia. There is much more at this travel center including a "Diner" (more like a full service restaurant), coffee shop, Subway shop, chapel, and laundromat. Oh yeah, they also sell gas and diesel! So if you're on I-40 going toward exit 369, take a breather and stop in whether you need fuel or not!

This is a must stop for anyone traveling on the I-40. The cars and displays are just awesome. Take lots of pictures...

Stopped here because of the billboards, glad we did. Great free museum, they do take donations for a local charity. Great food and service at the restaurant. If you are in the area you need to stop and take a look...you will be glad you did!

We needed gas, and we thought we'd make a quick stop here. We ended up staying a bit longer than that! :) Don't think the 'free car museum' is small and limited. It certainly isn't! VERY cool and extensive! There are motorcycles, too! And then there's the shopping! Treats, automotive needs, beautiful clothing, gifts for the family. Oh, and the restrooms are super clean. There's a restaurant too, but we didn't try it. We're saving it for next time. This place deserves several visits. Friendly people, too! Stop and enjoy!
