The wine may be fine(Though they say whiskey’s quicker),But this joint, on the whole,Could be a lot slicker. If your bladder is strongThe good times will roll,But if you must wee,You’d best dig a hole. The toilets are two,The lines stretch to twenty,Your wait will be long,Your annoyance, oh, plenty. And if you have troublesWith knees or with back,And can’t stand for long,Else the pain will attack,Then this simple taskOf using the looBecomes a big issue,And frustrating, too. Now, there are porta-pottiesDown in the lot,But the prospect is gruesome;A camper, I’m not.And here, as beforeAccess is quaint; If disabled you are, Then welcome, you ain’t.And then there’s the parking,(Not enough for the crowd); And wonderful music,(If played a touch loud). But the volume is needed,I get it, you see,To drown out the cacklingOf groups stone drunk by three. And then there’s the grub,It’s lacking, so very,It’s tough and it’s dry,And it’s really quite scary. But I must admit,As the crowds clearly show,That this place has its fans,And you might want to go.If you don’t need the loo,And you don’t wish to dine,Then the music is great,And there’s always the wine!

A group of us stopped at this winery recently for the first time; was impressed by the roaring fire in the sitting room, which made a nice cozy area to sit and have a bottle of wine. The tasting was free and all that we tasted was considered to be good by our group. Prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly. Looking forward to trying this winery out again during the warmer months and being able to sit outside.

I have always loved this winery. They have good wine and will let you bring a picnic lunch. They have indoor and outdoor seating. If the weather is good they have live music too. Can't go wrong stopping here!

We have been to Blumenhof twice. We have had a great experience each time! The tastings were generous and the staff courteous. They have live music on most weekends and a large outdoor seating area to enjoy your wine.

We tasted all the wines in Augusta and Hermann and this place was our favorite :) The tastings are free, which is always good. And they seem to run lots of specials so if you buy more you get discounts.

I am a regular Trip Advisor reviewer and just ran across a review on Blumenhof Winery in Dutzow, Missouri that I had to comment on. The review is from: sandy 7599, titled, “Blumenhof Winery and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” dated March 30, 2014.I was at Blumenhof Winery that day and have never witnessed a more rude and rowdy group at any Missouri-area winery. Certain group members were so rough that a lady sitting at a table next to me asked, “Is this place usually like this? This is our first visit here and will be our last.” I assured the couple that I have never witnessed this type of behavior here or at any other Augusta/Dutzow winery. Sandy7599’s review is erroneous and fabricated. My family and friends frequent Blumenhof Winery and especially enjoy the music of the entertainer she mentioned, Gary Sluhan. Sluhan was just playing his music and everyone was singing along and having fun until a couple of drunk (?) and brash women from this group ruined the rest of the day for all visitors. He even had to stop playing because of the ruckus these people caused. Blumenhof staff actually had to call the police to maintain control as we were leaving. Please do not let this “revenge review” taint your view of this wonderful winery. The owners and staff are great people and they make outstanding wines.

My wife and I were skeptical of this place when we pulled in. The small parking lot and facilities belied a very competitive wine list making Blumenhof a welcome surprise. They don't charge for tasting unlike some of the other, ostensibly more pretentious, wineries. Moreover, they are happy to cater to your tastes for either dries or semi-sweets, or let you run the gamut. Our conversion began to take place once we approached the rustic German styled facilities, accented by a full front porch outlined with Christmas lights and filled with fans. When we entered, we were pleasantly greeted by or host. She was helpful and pleasant and didn't scoff at all by our unrefined descriptions of the different wines. If anything, their geniality and laid back attitude is what led me to patronize them, whereas other vineyard's need to put on airs (no doubt to legitimize their presence for certain patrons) made me do the same with my wallet. I recommend this winery for families, bikers, katy-trail goers, and those looking for echoes from their German heritage. Price is fair for the area. Not cheap, but not pricey either, especially for German style, award- winning whites, inspired by old world vintages.

After spending the day hitting the Hermann wineries, which were occasionally too crowded to even do a wine tasting, we wanted to hit 'one more' before dinner in Washington. One of our party recommended Blumenhof, and thankfully so. There was a good blues musician playing when we arrived, and several staff waiting to educate drinkers in the tasting room. After sampling an array of good wines, and even a few that weren't on the sales list, we found a couple beauties to take home.Too bad we had people waiting on us in Washington, or else we would have stayed the evening in Blumenhof. Oh well, looking forward to next time.

We have been going to this winery since it opened years ago. We once again visited over Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed the hospitality at the tasting bar, buying bar, and outdoor eatery. We had Rib-eye steak sandwiches for lunch, right off the grill, with a bottle of wine, (actually I sampled a Honey Wheat Ale from some brewer from KC with mine), then back to buying a case of wine to bring home. During lunch there was live entertainment, as this place always has decent musicians and bands on nearly every visit we've made. See Sherry inside at the front desk, she will set you up for on-site purchases , or take home wine. (Even by the case!) Owner Mark was busy working unloading equipment and even changing out the garbage can liners! He was not too busy to stop and visit with us, also tell us of the severe winter we all had here in the Midwest, and how it affected the vines. The evening before this visit, Blumenhof had provided wine tasting at the nearby town of Marthasville, (located just west of here on the Katy Trail), at their May "Concert In The Parks" night. This was FREE samples/tasting there as well. This actually is what led us back to the winery the following day, as it had been awhile since our last visit. Plan to relax, enjoy the great outdoor area, food, live FREE music, and some great "tastes" in this quaint setting along the MO river, right off the Katy Trail.

We have been going to Blumenhof Winery for years and have always had a great time. For those who have frequented the Highway 94 Wine Straussa over the years, they will know that this winery is one of the very few that has continued the old way that wineries were run. Tasting is free, you can bring food and non-alcoholic beverages and they provide free entertainment. It is a very relaxing place although is doesn't have river views that some wineries offer. Blumenhof's Chalet appearance blends in nicely and the valley provides protection from the spring and fall winds. The wine list covers most palates and the pricing is fair. On weekends they have a small outdoor cafe that sells sandwiches and meals that are both good and fairly priced. If you want to be entertained with 60s and 70s music be sure to check their schedule for a day that "Butchwax and the Hollywoods" are there. They always have a large turnout on those days so be sure to come early or bring your own chairs for seating. All in all, it is our favorite winery destination.

There are so many wonderful wineries in our area so it is extremely disappointing when you encounter one like Blumenhof. Our experience began rather badly when we arrived and found they were not prepared for our party of 25 even though a 100$ deposit was made in advance. This could of been remedied with just a little extra kindness and maybe even a small apology. Instead the first order of action was demanding the remaining 100$ owed for the rental of a private area.We persevered and made the best of the "side deck" as they called it and requested more tables, chairs and outside heaters to accommodate our large party. The other deck area of open seating was enclosed and is where the live entertainment was taking place. It became quite obvious that we were not welcome on the other deck and definitely shouldn't expect to partake in any fun associated with the music provided. They referred to the entertainer as a Parrot Head but obviously they have never attended a Jimmy Buffett concert!Bottom line the wines were acceptable but the customer service was non existent from both the winery management as well as the entertainer Gary Sluhan.Too many great wineries in Missouri to waste an afternoon at Blumenhof.

Driving on the way to Hermann we came upon this little winery and it was a pleasant surprise. The young lady at the tasting counter was friendly and know her product. We were there on the Veterans Day Holiday so they were running a small promotion of free tasting glasses. What a nice touch. The samples were free and the wine was very good. On a warmer day and bottle and a brat in their yard would be a lot of fun. Give them a try.

Where do I start?! Everything about this winery is fantastic! Great wine for every taste. On occasion there's live music that is never a disappointment. And the occasional food is priced reasonably and very tasty. The staff is hard working and eager to please. In addition to that, they are also quite knowledgable. Im lucky because I live within five minutes of the winery and I can enjoy them anytime I want! Worth a visit!

Had a nice time at the winery. Parking was close, and the live music was free. Tables and chairs outside for customers to enjoy the music and the wine was good too. We will be going back again.

The best entertainment on weekends of all of the Augusta wineries. The wines are great and reasonably priced. You can bring your own food in baskets and coolers or buy food from their adjacent cafe. The scenery is great. Good parking and access from the Katy bicycle trail. Very nice people work there.
