The Shoe Box is definitely worth the trip to Black Earth. It claims to be the largest independent shoe store in the midwest. I believe it. From floor to ceiling it is stuffed with shoes ... and shoe shoppers. There are bargains to be had if you don't suffer from agoraphobia. The staff seems to include every local teenager, but they are polite, helpful and have an uncanny ability to find the right shoe in the right size amid all the chaos. Best of all ... for the husbands who have no interest in shoe shopping, there's an incredible collection of baseball memorabilia. I know, it sounds crazy, but it works.

We have been driving by The Shoe Box for holiday visits for seven years and I finally managed to convince my hubby to stop. We were so pleased with the service & laid back (yet attentive) style of the sales staff. These folks have mastered the art of customer service. Well done:) Will be stopping in everytime we pass through from now on.

The Shoe Box is an incredible shoe store, with the widest variety of shoes you can find anywhere in the Midwest. Dress shoes, athletic shoes, work shoes, casual.... you name it, they have it, and usually in all possible human sizes. Prices are also great. But the Shoe Box is a lot more than just a shoe store. The owner is a huge sports fan and owner of the Madison Mallards baseball team. The Shoe Box is adorned with photos autographed by some of the biggest stars in sports, along with miscellaneous memorabilia. If you want even more exposure to the owner's collection, drive a couple miles up the road to Rookies (he also owns that pub) and enjoy his amazing collection of memorabilia. Hint: for an even better price on shoes and more enjoyment in your visit to Shoe Box, chat baseball with Steve, the store's owner. He might be willing to give a bit of a discount, and even if not, you'll have a great time talking baseball. Not every shoe store that's owned by a guy who also has his own baseball team to boot.

This is one of those places that skips the fancy sales floor and just offers a great selection and well informed sales people. If you're simply shopping for quality footwear without the glitz and glamour, this is your place!

We go to the Shoe Box once a year and stock up on all of the shoes we need for the family. I have good luck in the bargain section.

Somewhat like Wall Drug in South Dakota, The Shoe Box in Black Earth Wisconsin is an iconic destination. People come to Wall Drug for free ice water. People come from miles around to The Shoe Box to find an amazing variety of shoe styles from many manufactures at discounted prices.The staff is well informed, friendly and very willing to help you find the right shoes for your feet (even if, as in my case, your left foot is a full size smaller than your right foot). Need to get some worn shoes repaired? They can do it. Among other signs posted outside, one says WALL DRUG 718 miles. If that's where you're headed, stop at The Shoe Box and arrive with happy feet.

The Shoe Box had been a well-known discount shoe store for over 40 years, and it is hard to beat their prices. From well known designer brands to custom made soles and heels for the disabled, they can provide it. Their discount section is superb, and for the outdoorsman, they have one of the most extensive selections of hunting, hiking, and work shoes and boots.
