The ground of the park are so lovely and the Stations of the Cross are very nice. The church is also very lovely. The Shrine and altar were smaller than I expected...but that has no bearing on anything. I felt peace and holiness in this place. The store is very well-supplied and the staff were most knowledgable about their inventory. I will return to this place again if ever I am anywhere near by. It gives me a sense of such peace and hopefulness.

If you can't make it to Italy, the basilica at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation is the next best thing! The mural above the main altar reminds me so much of those at St. Paul's Outside the Walls and San Clemente in Rome. It is a fun destination as well as spiritual because of the huge Shrine Park at the end of the street, perfect for Picnics and for getting exercise after a long ride! Don't miss the church underneath the main basilica with its collection of relics, statues, and hand sewn gowns for the Miraculous Statue of Our Lady which came from Europe. If you just want to immerse yourself in art and peace, this is the place to go! The gift shop is excellent and so is the Cafeteria food! If you are in need of consolation in troubled times, you will come away from here refreshed if not completely healed. . .the other Shrines in OH are nice, Sorrowful Mother, Our Lady of Lebanon, Our Lady of Lourdes, Mariapoch, but none are as beautiful and thrilling as Consolation. Don't miss the statue walk behind the basilica and the Miraculous Statue in the basilica.

If in the area, I highly recommend stopping at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. The actual basilica is beautiful, but the truly special place is underneath the main church. There is a 'second church' underneath - and it is full of relics, statues, and testimonials (including photos, crutches, braces, handwritten letters, etc.) of many folks over years and years that have attributed various acts of healing to have occurred due to prayer and devotion at this special place. There are a few places in the world that I have traveled to that have a special 'energy' about it, and this is one of them. The air is charged with wonder and peace, especially in the lower level, and you have to visit to experience it.

A very holy place and beautiful basilica. The basement church has plenty to see including many first class relics. Make the walk west a few blocks to the outdoor shrine park.

Absolutely beautiful basilica. Plenty to see in the basement church as well including many first class relics. The outdoor shrine park is a very peaceful place to reflect including the stations of the cross.

This is a must see!! The history is phenominal!!. The churches ( upper and lower) are beautiful. The shrine and park are awesome! There is a feeling of comfort and reassurance here. The Friars and staff are welcoming and ready to answer any questions. Be sure to check out the gift shop (and the cafeteria if you're there when it is open). We intend to stop in whenever we are in the area.

Not only is Our Lady of Consolation a beautiful "must see" catholic church, yet also a place to endure powerful miracles. From the church to the garden, I would highly encourage every individual to make a special stop. Nice area for picnic as well.

Not being Catholic, I had passed by this exit many times and not stopped. On a recent 'tour of NW Ohio' we decided to stop and check it out. The church is beautiful. Be sure to visit downstairs - it shows all the crutches and canes and casts and testimonials of those who had been healed - it gave me goose bumps. I was also reminded that healing is often an emotional and mental healing as well as physical healing. There is a lovely gift shop across the street as well as a beautiful park and shrine at the end of the street. Be sure to read about the procession in the pouring rain! We spent about 30-40 minutes - but I'm sure you could spend a bit more time.
