This is not a huge museum. They close on mondays. But, it's a quality museum that has a lot of history about Augusta. There are a few exhibits that help kids understand life in the 1800's. Couple of documentaries about the city. There are exhibits on farming / industry / home life. For a smaller city, they've done a good job. I've always take friends here when they come to visit. I have not find repeated visits boring. This is a must go when one visit Augusta.

This is a really great museum to take kids to because it is small enough to hold their attention but large enough with great exhibits to teach and inform about a lot of history. Well Worth a visit.

We took our fifth graders here on a field trip. The kids loved it. The museum folks were well informed about the history, and Julie made the booking easy.

Found it to be a great place to get information about Augusta and learn a bit history while we were at it.

This museum allows you to travel back in time and relive the good old days. Georgia is full of good history that need to be brought out in our children's text books.

I would strongly recommend . . . This place has something for everyone! I even got to meet James Brown's daughter and Cape Man on this visit. The museum is large and houses a wide range of historical memorabilia from every decade. I will be back for sure! Next time I will do the trolley ride to tour Augusta. Oh and did I mention admission is only $4 to the museum? Well worth it!!!

This museum does a great job telling one about the history of Augusta and the four biggest influences....the Savannah River, the military, the Georgia Medical University, and golf. There is also a rather large section about the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. A decent value at $4 per person for adults.

Very clean and spacious. Lots to see; lots for children to explore. Liked the golf areas and James Brown collection.

I really enjoyed taking my son to here! It might be small but it is definitely worth the time spent visiting!

Working in Augusta for a week, I was able to get out a bit early to spend at least 30 minutes at the museum before closing. I wish I had more time. It is very well designed with insightful and informative exhibits. I particularly enjoyed the train, trolley, Civil War, and James Brown exhibits. Very impressive for a 'city' museum. It is in a beautiful historic building with lots of space. The parking lot is safe and secure, and equally well appointed as the interior. If I'm ever back in Augusta with the family, I will make the effort to stop here for a visit.

we viewed the exhibit of James Brown. It revealed things about his career that I did not know, even though I followed him through that time. The exhibit is very informative and extensive. Our visit coincided with the release of his biopic "Get On Up", which premiered at a downtown theater.Toni, the salesperson in the store, was very helpful and enthusiastic in her praise of Augusta.

I've been to better museums, but those were in the nation's capital and various state capitals. This museum captures the local history well. Only complaint is a little too much focus on James Brown.

We visited this museum last month and wished we had more time there. The volunteer guide (I can not remember her name, but it was on Sunday 25 May. She may remember us, as we were telling her how wonderful it is to Skype with family members far away), was VERY knowledgeable about everything in the museum and it was a pleasure to hear it all. Well, nearly all as we had to leave to go a cave and a lookout before it got dark. This museum has wonderful photos and artefacts from the early history of Augusta and surrounding area. Such difficult and hard early days! A must see if you are in the area!

Be sure to visit the Augusta History Museum. The historical displays are very interesting and kept up very well. Children will also enjoy this visit.

We were surprised at how much history there was in the area, aside from the Masters tournament. Very nice building with very good exhibits. The gift shop staff was really nice and very informative.
