Bit of advice from a member. Two great courses old long yet not hilly and ok for walking the course. New Course no longer that new Members don't score as well so favour the old. One review calls New Course a municipal course not quite correct its a private course on leased municipal land and its pay & play. Old course is members course with 2 hours of tee time made available to the public each day. If it's rained play the new course it drains really well possibly best wet weather course on the coast. see someone gave it 2 stars because of slow play not very fair as occasionally on any course you get people who hold the golf up. another suggested blind fairways which is not fair that person needs a course guide you will see most holes have straight fairways but a number of holes you drive over a hill but they are straight No Dog legs. The old Course fairways are more lush with a lot of trees best days to book old Course is Monday Wednesday's as most members play it on Tuesday Thursday's . The reviewer who complained about range balls is partly correct Club bought a load of new balls last year but for some reason did not dump the old ones So on occasions you get the bottom of the bucket. If your paying for balls then ask caddy master to fill basket with the shiny balls they are quite obliging. the entire commercial centre at the club entrance is due to close and the golf shop has moved but the reviewer didn't mention that the club does have a perfectly good golf shop well stocked. Oh and if your like the course enough and want to buy an apartment or villa on the course I also sell real estate . Tailor Made estates spelt differently to the golf clubs in the pro shop. One final mention is that the latest clubs can be hired in the arrivals hall at malaga airport for cheaper than Ryan air charge you to bring your old dated set over. Maybe a chance to test latest club range

On a rainy day in Soain we did not have high hope of playing golf. The new course at San Roque came to our rescue. It has great draining and is a really well designed course. The staff were very accommodating and the one that stood out was the course marshal. Born in La Linea and educated in London, his language skills and very professional attitude to his job made our game even more enjoyable. By far the best golfing experience we had in our 7 days of golf in Spain

Played both the old and new course. Preferred the old course. Both courses have no signage to help with the layout out of each hole, the new course has about 13 blind tee shots. Service did not exist. Range balls extra and are about 15 years old. Gave the feeling of members first and non members are not really welcome. If you want to play a real great golf course in area go play Finca Corestien. Best course in area.

Just played the New Course. Absolutely brilliant and in fantastic condition. All of our party came off the last green and could not stop talking about how good it was. Tough but fair course with not a single poor hole.

Played the Old Course for the first time in March. It came highly recommended and we didn't leave disappointed.Clubhouse and pro shop excellent, staff very friendly and accommodating. Excellent practice facilities.Course itself is terrific. Well defined fairways, bunkers strategically placed and seem to draw the ball towards them, huge slick greens. Great layout, with each hole not interfered with by others on the course. Can't recommend it highly enough

Terrible time here, the villa had an ant and wasp infestation and they did nothing about it for a full month that we were there. Terrible terrible service and ruined out time there.

Our society visited the new course in 2009 and there was a WOW factor, even though we had played some of the higher ranked courses in the Malaga to Marbella stretch. Took up the option to play both courses deal and we were not disappointed. Everything from when we arrived to playing both magnificent courses to settling the bar tab before leaving was just pure class. We will definitely be going back on our next visit to Andalusia.....

This is one of the best kept secrets in the area. Although it is a municipal course, it is steeped in history (Valderama and Royal Sotogrande influence), has one of the best golf schools for juniors and a fantastic restaurant to boot. Worth spending quality time there.

Great course and reasonable green fee for this well laid out track. Greens in good condition. Just a shame the buggies are so expensive here (44€) and dont even have GPS.Service is average at best but you cant knock the quality of the course. A must play.

Played San Roque Old, Sotogrande and Finca Cortesin in mid June in perfect conditions. This was my favourite and the best greens of all 3 courses - perhaps the best I've ever played on - including Valderrama and Wentworth. A real good test of golf with some very interesting holes and a real thinking course with lots of trees, beautiful fairways and some great water holes. Its walkable even with a pull trolley. A beautiful clubhouse and great facilities with friendly staff. Perfect in every way. Play it.

Really good value green fee at 75 euros each. Beautiful resort and the course is a challenge, in wonderful condition and every hole was beautifully designed.I have played Almenara, La Cala, Santana, Torrequebrada, Alcadiesa and Montemayor previously but none of them bear comparison with San Roque New.

Top quality courses. Great food. Expensive but worth it. course in top quality condition and the staff were very nice.

Well maintained. Fast greens. Some great holes with water. Some of the biggest/longest bunkers you will ever see! It can get windy up there which can make it tough. Normally expensive to play but they do the odd offer for 4 people inc buggy. Worth checking the website and booking agents before you book.

to the reviewer that mentioned that San Roque is a bit tatty (review feb2010) be aware that this area has had 2 months of torrential rain which has seen the majority of local courses damaged and closed. La Reserva has lost 3 of its holes in recent 5 weeks. So i would say come back and play San Roque after a week or two of sun. Its in magnificent condition. Sotogrande and finca cortesin other comparable courses have suffered badly along with the entire costa golf. Its been a freaky winter. San Roque new course has fared well as it drains better than any other course on the coast . For those who are here in winter just in case your booked course is closed due to wet weather take San Roque new course number with you as its a rainy day option
