I went with my husband and my two little girls (3 and 1 years old). The children was very tired, but the view worth all the sacrifice.

Out of season jeep taxis into reserve are scarce, so we walked up to the lakes and then down again. Not easy but turned out to be a great and fulfilling experience.

Had an outstanding 15 km walk from Estany de Sant Maurici to Portarró d'Espot, which is the top of pass to the next valley to the west, and back to the lake. The path was well-marked and went to the south of Estany de Sant Maurici past Refugi Sant Maurici. On the way back I looped north of the lake via Mirador d l'Estany. Although the trail was marked, I was glad I stopped at the office for the Parc Nacional and bought a park map for about 10 euros. Most visitors seemed to stay close to the paths north of the lake. October turned out to be a great time for a visit. I was very lucky and had warm, clear skies.

Griffon vultures, Golden Eagles and wildlife at every turn! This place was a truly amazing adventure. At times, the trekk was tiring due to the altitude, but well worth the views once we were at the top! Visited the Sant Maurici lake and the town of Espot, which was quaint and the locals could not have been friendlier!Definately returning here when the kids are older!

Simply breathtaking and inspiring. This is a place that you must visit at least once in a lifetime, fabulous mountains, crystal clear blue water lakes, clean mountain air !You cannot drive into the park but must leave the car outside. We entered via Espot, where at a reasonable fee you can hire a jeep taxi who will take you for a bumby ride into the park. Our driver, Luis, God Bless you, has a limited command of English, but repeated outcries of Magnifica Photographica Panoramica ! heralded welcome stops along the route for fantastic photo opportunities, and believe me, the Lord has got his lighting just right here as the photographs are unbelievably good !Don't miss this !

I am basing this review on several other helpful ones. We read those but still weren't sure until we actually finished our hike about some of the details. Our goal was to see great scenery and hike, but not to spend more than a half day. We accomplished this as follows:My husband and I arrived about 11am at the parking lot in Espot where you pay for the 4D transport at the kiosk. We bought a ticket for the 3rd lake (Amiges). The Land Rover doesn't leave until there are 6 passengers who want this route, but 4 people were already waiting so we left by 11:15. It took the 4D land-rover 50 minutes up to the 3rd lake and then we proceeded walking down. The 4D land-rover then picks up at the 1st lake before heading back to Espot. The pickup is once an hour, on the hour. The cost is 18 Euros per person, round trip. We made it back to the first lake shortly before 2 pm, so we were back in Espot by 2:15 because the return Land Rover ride only takes 15 minutes. However, if we'd arrived even at 2:05, we'd have missed the ride and not returned until 3:15. On the other had, while I am fit, I am not a fast walker and I am 60ish, so younger hikers can probably go much faster, especially with little photo-taking.We were happy that our hotel (Els Puis) had given us a good map. Can't seem to get that at Espot. I see that one reviewer posted some online maps, which are probably as good. I agree with the suggestion to wear a pair of proper shoes, I was also very glad to have my walking stick. the ground is often rocky at times and very steep. At least one reviewer implied the waterfall was out-of-the-way, but we don't know how you could miss it. The scenery is varied and interesting, but I didn't enjoy this park nearly as much as Ordesa. Maybe it's because the sun never came out and also because it was too difficult to enjoy the scenery and keep my footing at the same time.

If you enjoyd the Grand Tetons, you'll fall in love with this park - great hiking in the beautiful Pyreenees!

The view on the lake is wonderful, the walking trail were also very nice so it was very joinable day for all the family. The only drawback is that we couldn’t find any tourist information (not in Espot and not at the entrance of the park) that will provide us the nessary information regarding the park. It’s bit strange, since so many tourist are coming to the park, and there many trails that you can chose

If you like hiking or just visit nature, you will enjoy this park. There are nice places with easy access like Sant Maurici or if you prefer more quiet places with nice views you can go to the Portarró d'Espot.

beautiful lake that you can sit by and read all day... you can take any of the several trekking paths and while I did only a short one due to my leg injury but my husband went right till the top and was amazed by its beauty..there are a lot of rest houses which you can book in advance and stay over if you would like a trip in the open..you can either walk upto the lake which is the base of the mountain or pay 10 euros per person and take a van up there and trek up

The walk around the lake Sant Maurici with 2 kids via the waterfall took 3.5 hours but they didn't complain at all - normally we can't get them out of the front door! Lovely scenery. We took the taxi from espot return to the lake, but would have loved to do the walk to or from espot to the lake as well. Hope to come back for some serious hiking in the future. Note you cannot swim in any of the many lakes.

You can drive around a lot of this area, but really you need good boots, poles and a hearty packed lunch to gain the full earth experience and stand in the absolute majesty of nature. the routes are well marked, some hard walking, so expect to work for your views, but an absolute wonder and different with every turn. So well worth the drive from Reuss. Wonderful experience.

Wonderful and gorgeous park. Tons of day and overnight hiking opportunities. Most trails were well marked. No guide needed.

The National Park is a wonderful place for walking and hiking. The national GR-11 route passes through but there are lots of other routes too. A good map is a must for any distance as some parts are quite remote and snow turned to ice in many places and blocking the paths on occasions. For the less adventurous shorter walks or 4WD taxis are available from Espot. For longer hikes the Refugis are good for overnight but it is best to book well in advance. For those who do go deep into the park you will be rewarded with fantastic scenery of mountains and many lakes, well worth it!
