We are hopefully moving into the area and thought we ought to pop into one of the local pubs to check it out - and found it very friendly with a great selection of beers - cant wait for this to be our local

Seven of us booked for Christmas Day lunch, slightly nervous due to it being the first time we have had lunch on the 'big day' away from home. As fairly regular diners here anyway, we should have known that the Dog and Partridge would provide the perfect alternative. Paul and his staff coped brilliantly with a full house. Food was cooked to order from the varied menu (nice to have alternatives) and we didn't have to order in advance. All members of our party went away very satisfied, with selections including roast beef and even steak and Stilton pie as well S's the traditional bird. At less than £50 a head for a five course Christmas dinner the price was amazing too.

My wife and I have recently relocated and have been trying out local eateries. We were delighted to have discovered a cosy, welcoming local pub right on our doorstep.Fabulous hospitality, a great vibe and excellent food made our first visit an absolute joy! We will be back again - often!

My husband and I visited recently and had an excellent meal. The portions were very generous and there was plenty of choice on the menu. However, we sat on a table near one of the fireplaces and the amount of dust on the top of the fireplace, cupboards, clock etc was just ridiculous! Also our table had a very fine coating of dust as did all the seats. I'm not sure what the owner pays a cleaner for because they're clearly not doing their job properly and either want sacking or some serious training. The pub is very pretty and the decor different to most places you will visit and I would recommend if they can sort the dust issue out. The decor in the ladies toilets is worth a visit alone!

The Dog & Partridge is by far one of our favourite places to eat and we would highly recommend to anyone. A great village pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere, the staff are attentive and polite and the exceptionally first class home cooked fresh food tastes as good as it looks. We have visited several times with family and friends and the high standards of service never fails to meet our needs. Keep doing what you are doing at The Dog & Partridge as it is EXCELLENT.....

We found this pub by putting in a google search for dog friendly pubs near Uttoxeter. We'd been traveling back home to Wales from visiting friends in Nottingham and reached that moment in the journey when sustenance was not merely desirable, but an absolute necessity. And sustenance from an establishment that would welcome the presence of Betsy, our small and agreeable Bedlington Poodle Terrier. The pub car park was full but there was a helpful sign telling that having taken care to look right when leaving, we could drive back on ourselves and park up at St Peter's church. This allowed Betsy to have a wander around and then a walk through the village to the pub.The pub itself has those rarities of things these days, genuine charm and authentic country vibe. It's not some ersatz, pseudo rustic pub, this is the real deal: a proper village pub catering for the locals and yet also a first class pub/restaurant. The service was friendly and warm and efficient, the food was fabulous and best of all, Betsy was welcomed. We weren't just shoved into the corner out of the way, we got to sit in a lovely part of the pub alongside everyone else. She'd like to add, by the way, that her bowl of water was as nectar. Absolutely recommended.

Yet again blown away by the exceptional high standard of food, and service, for our main 3 of us went for the Roast Partridge, a meat I had never tasted before we all loved it, the other had the steak pie which again looked and tasted fabulous. My fave place to eat by far.

We celebrated a milestone birthday here with a few family and friends on a Monday evening. Everyone enjoyed their food and we were well looked after even though there was a large party in the other room. Our first time here even though we only live a short distance away. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I were staying at Uttoxeter racecourse in our caravan. We were recommended The Dog and Partridge by the Warden there. We thought we would give it a go after seeing the menu online. We found this quaint little pub after about a ten minute drive from Uttoxeter. There is not a great deal of parking, but we did see a sign that you can park in the church car park. On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown a table for lunch. This establishment is "very into Real Ales" if you like that sort of thing. The Sunday lunch menu is good, as you can have 1,2 or 3 courses, which works for my wife and I.We chose a traditional Roast beef dinner, which comes with a huge Yorkshire pudding, with roast potatoes and mash and various veg. The beef was lovely and pink as roast beef should be, not grey meat you get in " plastic pubs". I had the Beef and Stilton pie, which is to "die for". I chose chunky home made chips, plus the veg. We both had deserts and we were very pleased with our lunch. They also do "Bin ends", wines at very reasonable prices. We had a bottle of Pinot Grigio, and I think it was only £8.95. Which is good value in a restaurant. All in all, we had a very pleasant lunch and would visit again when in the area.

We (5) met up for Sunday lunch. We travelled over from Chester and met up here (half way) with our friends from Market Harborough. It's a very nice pub, in a village setting with friendly staff. Loved the different beers and lagers on offer; pity I was driving! The usual suspects and others, were on the menu and met with our approval - peri peri chicken, beef and stilton pie, salmon and roast turkey. Food was great (both taste and price) as was the service. We will add this to our list of pubs and meet up again here in 2015. Recommend!!

Lovely setting and nice atmosphere in this traditional country pub. Food is good pub food at a good price. When you book a table you get it for the full night which is great. Service good.

Apologies its taken me so long to review the Dog and Partridge as they really went out of their way to help me celebrate my partners birthday. We came from Ireland to go to Alton Towers, staying in Uttoexeter (10 mins drive from the restaurant) and time was tight so bringing a cake was going to be difficult. The owner very kindly arranged a small cake for me which really helped make the evening special. The atmosphere was lovely, very country pub and food was generous and very tasty! If you are ever in the area stop in, you wont be disappointed!

This was recommended to me as I was a fan of the Unicorn in Newton Solney, and I believe that there's some relationship between the two pubs. The Steak Pie was one of the best I've had. Just enough pastry to hold it together and a generously packed filling of quality beef. The menu is an excellent mix of traditional and more imaginative dishes, and the ambience is homely and Cosy. Two watch outs.....Chips, vegetables and salad are extra cost,so a meal can be considerably pricier than a typical local public, and the service didn't match the quality of food. It looked like the waitress was struggling and one of the chefs or managers was dashing around serving....and forgetting a side and drinks order. I'm sure that was just a one off,and it didn't detract from the meal.
