This National Trust park is always delightful to visit. We walked to the church which contains a fantastic white marble memorial to David Pike Watts. This was followed by a walk alongside the River Manifold which equals the Dove in its charm. Lovely, even in winter.

Such a wonderful spot, feel relaxed as soon as you park the car and wander down to the river, over the ancient bridge and off you go - short stroll or longer stretch of the legs.Don't forget to call at the restaurant and shop before you set off home, with a view to calling in again of course.

just go there for the view to the church and hills behind. th e tea rooms serve good coffee and the walk around and along the river is wonderful

I cannot think of a nicer place to while away a few hours than in Ilam Park. The view from the gardens across to the church and beyond is one of my favourites. The NT tea room serves great food and is not to expensive. There are many walks around the site and along the river. Absolutely lovely.

great place for a stroll around the grounds and estate village attached to this stately house - National Trust members park for free

Beautiful house and grounds, also dog-friendly; grounds open Christmas Day, shops closed but toilets open, which was useful.

Thankyou for posting your lovely review about your visit to Ilam Park. It is great to hear you enjoyed your time at the Youth Hostel. Ilam Hall itself is owned by the National Trust but is operated indpenedently by the YHA, so I will be sure to pass on your comments to them. The grounds and stableyeard are all owned and operated by the National Trust, so it was great to hear you enjoyed the grounds and walking by the river. We agree it is a wonderful place visit. We hope you come back again soon.

The Hall istelf is owned by the National Trust but it is operated indepently by the Youth Hostel Association, so I will be happy to pass on your feedback. I'm sure they will be delighted to receive it. It sounds like you had agreat time in the snow. Ilam Park is beautiful all year year, but is extra special when the snow falls. As regular visitors to the area we are never disappointed we have never set off from here walking before so thought we would give it a trySome lovely walk from here you just pick how far you wish to walk and a difficult levelThe park and house with gardens are very attractive to walk around with the river meandering behindA very nice small church in the grounds all surrounded by the wonderful peak district

Lovely gardens and a pretty circular walk. Good tea room. The surrounding area is beautiful. Plenty of parking space.

A must to visit at all seasons, but the autumn colours are wonderful. The grounds are superb with sucha great selection of walking options and then theres the tea room as well to get that great reward for all the effort expended. And then there's the campsite if required and all the surrounding beauty of Dovedale. Creation at its best.

We visited the grounds and took a walk along the river through the woodland and back again. Very steep with steps. You could just stay by the river. We found it tricky to know which way to head for a nice walk as there weren't trails sign-posted. Not the scenery of the Peak District to the north with the heather etc, but a pleasant place to visit.
