Great exhibition, informative but its a shame its in a small disused shop. Think big! You could attract more people! Even so, great use of the space. Well done.

I have been to this exhibition on several occasions as I live locally. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the film on Herts during WW1 is fascinating and very educational. Having access to websites that are usually paying ones makes a big difference.I strongly recommend visiting this exhibition.

It wasn't so much the military artefacts that were on display, but the individual accounts and items that related to specific events, and the boundless enthusiasm behind the project that I found so fascinating. An interesting exhibition in its own right, but an absolute must visit for anyone whose relatives were in the regiment or who wants to research local history for that period.

The Herts at War Exhibition is ideally situated in the historic arcade. The exhibition is housed in a small space but there are a lot of exhibits and accounts of what life was like in Letchworth Garden City and the surrounding areas of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire during WW1. There are some very interesting subjects covered including how Belgian Refugees were welcomed in the town and at one particular time 1 in 4 residents were Belgian, and another on how a German Zeppelin bomber dropped over 50 bombs on Hitchin and Willian in October 1916. Upstairs there is a cinema where a film is shown portraying daily life in wartime Hertfordshire. This is a very interesting exhibition which goes to great lengths to show how WW1 affected the Herts/Beds area. Highly recommended.

I visited the exhibition with my son and two grandsons. Being residents of Letchworth it was wonderful to learn what happened during the Great War in our town. It was very interesting to see which roads had the most people leave for war. Also to read how the Belgian refugees were welcomed into the town community. There are plenty of facts displayed around the exhibition which are very enlightening. Upstairs there is a cinema room playing a film depicting Hertfordshire during the war. Also there is a research section where Dan Hill, the coordinator of the project, will happily help you to research ancestors of yours that were involved in the Great War. I would recommend that you visit this exhibition to widen your knowledge.

Popped in to see this Exhibition left bursting with curiosity about the part our families played in the Great War. No doubt we will be back, don't miss the chance to visit if you are in Letchworth on a Thurs - Sat

Though the Exhibition is titled "Herts at War", there are some excellent displays of all things Letchworth Garden City, and there are items related to Bedfordshire. Fascinating insight about the Belgian refuges during WW1. I am glad to note that the exhibition will be touring other areas of Hertfordshire over next four years. Dan Hill ( Great War Historian and Military History researcher ) will be pleased to trace the history of your forefathers ( not only of Hertfordshire origin ) who may have served in WW1. Exhibition boasts a very dedicated team of professionals and enthusiastic team of volunteers.

Nice local exibition run by an avd Historian with good technical knowledge of the exhibits. the sort of exibits that we've all seen, shells, other ordnance and Uniforms, Photographs - but added bonus of sectioned items suck as Fuzes/Initiators, Grenades.

Visited with a group from our town Sawbridgeworth. Have been working with Dan for the last year hearing all about this exciting project - visited on Wednesday with our WW1 group and was overwhelmed with this stunning exhibition. We are a very excited and lucky town to be able to share and collaborate with Herts at War. The setting far exceeded my expectations. Letchworth is a great town to visit too and the location of the exhibition in the Arcade is perfect. This is an absolute 'must see' for not only Herts residents but for all with a keen interest in WW1. Well done

Tells the story of Herts in WW1 in an interesting and thoughtful way. The paintings on show are superb and the cinema presentation excellent. I liked the stories of Belgian refugees whom Letchworth made welcome at the start of the war. Subject headings will get you thinking and will interest anyone who wishes to learn more about WW1 whether your from Herts or not. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. I am looking forward to seeing the exhibition again next year when it transfers to Sawbridgeworth. This is a first class exhibition that sets the standard and deserves support. It is up to date and inspiring. Excellent and worth a visit.

Our visit on August 28th, consisted of a grandfather, his 2 children and his 2 grandchildren (aged 21 & 15). We were fascinated by the items and articles displayed. The exhibition not only followed the Herts Regiment during their war, but showed how those left at home coped with their loved ones being away, and how the community changed as a whole. Although it is small, it is well presented and very informative. The hightlight for us was a chat with one of the dedicated historians, who took time to chat to us about one of our relatives in the Herts Regiment. It is well worth a visit, especially if you have local connections.

Very interesting exhibition that highlights the role of local people during the Great War. I have been fascinated to hear some stories of soldiers who lived nearby. Remarkable pictures and militaria items can be seen all around the museum. A member of the team will tell you the story behind every item displayed. it's a great visit!

Sadly only in Letchworth for a year before moving on, the Herts at War exhibition tells the story of those Hertfordshire men and women who served in the Great War. As well as ever growing displays there are experts on hand to answer any questions and advise families about loved ones who served. A film about Hertfordshire in the war is also an interesting view as almost every part of life in the county is covered.

Till I saw this exhibition I didn't know how involved this town was in the war effort. Lots to see but in a very short time. Worth a visit then to move on to other things in the town.
