I visited on a day with clear blue skies and warm weather. The workers there were very informative and attentive. Being able to walk around and explore the castle itself was amazing. I was able to kiss the Blarney Stone and I recommend doing it because it was a unique experience in itself. It is a bit scary having to lean over backwards though. On the grounds they also a cute tourist shop. If you're debating on visiting I would say go because it was one of the memorable experiences I enjoyed while vacationing in Ireland.

Wonderful day out at the Blarney castle and amazing grounds. Don't just go to the castle to kiss the Blarney stone as there are so many beautiful sights around the grounds. The Poison garden,.the amazing collection of trees, the willow pergolas, caves etc. Good cafe restaurant with a log fire serving home made Irish stew with 'Guiness'....delicious. Go early as the tourist coaches arrive in abundance. The Blarney walk to the stone is not for everyone. I am claustrophobic, and detest tiny winding staircases on wed stone steps. Kids love it. If you do kiss the Blarney stone backwards...it is also know for the amount of people that bless it as well!!

We visited, and were a bit disappointed. The grounds and gardens are a welcomed leisurely walk (I visited in February, so they must be gorgeous in Spring and Summer). The cafe has very good food. The Castle is genuinely old, and its condition matches its age. The climb up to the battlements, where the famous stone is, is not an easy walk for the elderly, people with very small children, if you have issues walking on very uneven surfaces, or if you are claustrophobic. Large handbags, backpacks, or camera bags are a huge challenge on the old, round staircases.Having visited in February, I cannot even start to imagine how difficult a visit would be in the busy, Summer season. Then, after all the climbing (and believe me, I climbed most of St. Paul's Cathedral in London - which is quite a climb - and this one sucked more), the battlements have been graced with safety rails (for obvious reasons), and an attendant helps you in position to the awkward position for kissing the stone, and pictures are taken (available later for purchase for 18 Euro!) by an automated, security-like camera. The only part that I believe to be worthwhile is to visit the interesting poison garden (keep kids close here), and the grounds and gardens.Lastly, when the high admission cost is factored in (approximately 60 Euro for 4 Adults and 1 child), the whole experience is disappointing.

Make sure you set aside a whole day! You'll want to see everything! And make sure you kiss the stone for Irish luck as it's an adventure in itself.

The grounds were beautiful. We walked/ducked through the Bager caves which are wet and not for anyone that has back problems. The poisonous garden and wood courtyard were pretty to walk through. The House was beautiful (we only got to see the outside), and of course the castle. The stairs to the Blarney Stone are steep and winding, but the view from the top of the castle is beautiful!

Everyone goes to Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone. While kissing the Blarney Stone is the reason most make the trip, the surprising find is the castle itself. To see a castle in ruins and not renovated for tourism is a refreshing attraction. To walk through the rooms and imagine what they once may have looked like is an unique experience on its own. While some rush to the top to kiss the stone and then leave the grounds, I would suggest slowly roaming the property and taking in the castle and its grounds with open eyes and enjoying the experience that it has to offer. Another suggestion would be to get there when they open, we were the only ones at the top and had plenty of time to kiss the stone.

The Blarney Castle and Gardens was a highlight of our day. The castle offers a rich history, great story and adventurous climb up very narrow circular stone stairs to the top where you're able to hang upside down and backwards to kiss the blarney stone for a lifetime of eloquence. You'll never be lost for words again! Additionally, the gardens, surrounding forest, brooks and fields are gorgeous. A great family visit followed by a stop at the Blarney Woollen Mills for shopping and lunch.

After kissing the Blarney Stone I now feel i have an abundance of eloquence. However, the Castle and Gardens are also well worth a visit. The plaques around the castle are not only informative but are humorous and add a fun side to the visit. Visiting in March the Gardens are only just starting to come through but reckon in the summer months they are absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, we could only spend an 1h and a half here, but could easily have visited for the whole day. Will definitely be back to do some of the walks and see the grounds.

Yes, it's a top tourist destination point and the buses line up with throngs of global visitors come to see this famous castle. But to go kiss the blarney stone does require some mental concentration and dexterity. There a number of vast, slippery, narrow stone stairs all leading to the top of Blarney Castle where one must stand in line to await their turn. Is it myth, maybe. Is it uncomfortable to lean on one's back, head upside down to plant one on a mythical stone that grants you the gift of garb? Yes and no, there are helpers there to guide a body down. This will be hard for the elderly or affirmed to do. My daughter and I decided against kissing the stone, and decided to circumvent the top perimeter to drink in the gorgeous grounds below. It felt very Rapunze-like, and is actually quite a beautiful site to absorb. Getting down from the top level is harder than going up, as you must make way for 2 way human traffic descending and ascending. We actually enjoyed much more walking through the gorgeous multiple paths of the gardens, because around every corner there was something unexpected and very pretty revealed. A person could spend several hours just on the grounds alone, which are very well landscaped, planted with lovely tree's and plants abounding, and offer a calming effect when strolling through. We could have imagined knomes & leprechauns every where we looked. Numerous tourists everywhere aside, a visit to Blarney can only be appreciated once there and you come down off the tall handsome castle to partake of their lovely gardens and paths.
