What a fantastic place fascinating history well worth paying to go inside all the outside can be explored and enjoyed from the outside. There are often many other attractions going on here themed days and open air concerts. It is guarded by real soldiers much to the delight of my kids.A word of warning for parents there is little or nothing preventing young ones from clambering on the ramparts with sheer drops in many parts so a word to the wise on keeping them on a tight reign.Inside the grounds is the resistance museum which is also definitely worth the extra fee.Fantastic views can be gained over the city and a harbour. This has to be in the top five of attractions to visit in Oslo

Assuming you like castles or history then this is the place for you. Central, price included in the Oslo pass and a nice easy walk around with loads of info.

I never went into any of the buildings or the castle, but it was a nice place to walk around and get views of the harbor. I visited in late September on a warm and sunny day, and many people were just enjoying the good weather and lounging in the grass.

It was interesting to walk around and be fascinated by the way the fort was built without modern technology. There are some steep climbs, but the view over the harbour made it worthwhile. It gets a bit cold & windy & is probably a beautiful place to visit in the summer.Loved seeing the uniformed soldiers - didn't take a tour or enter the castle or museums, but had a lovely walk around.

Good lookout point to view the harbor and city from. To actually go inside the buildings, be sure to check when tours are offered, we went after main hours so we could only tour the exteriors of the buildings.

We visited the castle two days ago, and we were so lucky because it was just me and my husband inside the castle that day, so we could take lot of pictures in empty and wonderful rooms!I recommend to visit it with the audioguide, so you can have a full and clear explanation of the castle and of its use nowadays. Have a walk all around the castle, because there's a great view and there are two more museums to visit (Resistance museum and Aviation museum).

As a lot of other authors have said this is a place to go and admire Oslo from rather then become immersed in the castle's history or culture. Situated on the left side of Oslo Fjord, the steep climb allows you to see the whole of the harbour area and all that goes on it. There is a visitor centre, and a number of facilities associated with it, such as the home defence and the army museums, but it isn't somewhere to spend a long time at. You need to be pretty agile to get up the steep cobbled walkways, covered in gravel, to get to see the sights.

We didn't actually go into the castle or the museums, just strolled around admiring the buildings and the view.Great to see uniformed soldiers too.

Not possible to get inside but we visited the connected museum. The castle is really impressive from the outside. The museum was informative with a lot of models and information boards. Especially the part about the time when the caste served as a jail. Good display about famous prisoners during the past.

Nice Oslo fortress/ castle. Lovely area full of history.Lovely harbour area.Really enjoyed Oslo city as a whole, even though we visited on Xmas Eve and most places were closed for the Norwegian Christmas. Lovely city. Very friendly people.

Beautiful old fortress with the spectacular view on Olso and Olso fjord. Inside the complex there are military barracks, museum and lots of beautiful green trees. Nice place to walk around in peace. Lots of history there...

Indtast tekst eller en webadresse til et website, eller oversæt et dokument.Especially if you have just a Little bit of historical interest you must see Akershus. And make sure you se the newly renovated ceiling of the great hall...

Impressive fortress build by the Danish kings centuries ago. Nice panorama view over the Oslo Fjord from the top. In the area you'll also find the official army museum - free of charge like the Akershus itself.
