We have just returned from Adana and this museum is closed for refurbishment. We could not find out when it is due to open again. Would suggest you check when you plan to visit . Please ignore the rating given for this attraction the web page insisted I submit a rating before I could send this post.

It is not a world wide famous museum like Istanbul, Ephesus and Gaziantep museums but It worths a visit while in Adana. It is located at south corner of Merkez Park just near to Sabanci Cami. In its modest building and garden it houses remains from civilizations that had left their traces to different periods of the history beginning with Hittites.By the way if you like history and fond of visiting museums please buy a museum card from the first museum you visit in Turkey and enjoy free access to museums and archaeological sites run by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

A museum with significant examples of different cultures, unexpected quality for a small city. Especially interesting were the floors of Roman mosaics. Displays were dynamic and interesting, in English, Turkish and German.

We just arrived in Adana this afternoon, and headed straight to the Archeology Museum -- only to be met by a guard with a printed sign basically saying: "Museum Closed by order of municipality" or something like that. We think it may be moving to a new location, but honestly, not really sure. Only know that we weren't even permitted to walk in the garden! Very, very disappointing!

This wee museum was a few minutes walking from the hotel I am accommodated in, is one of many historical attractions in Adana. It exhibits the remains of Karamanmaras, Gaziantep, Mersin, Yumukepte, Tarus Gözlükule and Missis diggings. A wonderful statue of Hittite god Tarhunda atop his chariot

The museum was relatively small and under construction while we were visiting there in September 2013.

The Museum WAS something more in it's earlier history; there is no admission, no air conditioning (in summer) and many exhibits have been removed and the rooms gated off. On the ground floor there are several interesting statues and ancient stone carvings -- outside are several sarcophagi, a number of large ancient pots -- none of it is truly organized. The artifacts outside are not well taken care of, sadly. This is worth a "I'm just curious to see what's there" visit and to get some cool pictures with ancient things. Since it is so close to the mosque and it has available parking, go once and see for yourself... One CAN get some great photos, so for this it is an OK place to visit.

Nice to see if you have extra time, but it is small, maybe 30 minutes? Adana itself, IS a museum! Easy to find, we were let in for free, I am not sure why, but it was interesting to see what is their local archeology - most of it was taken to Istanbul.

We could have skipped this museum because it holds a very limited display of Roman, et al. stone works, but does have the sarcophicus of Achilles. It is, however, right in front of the Grand Mosque.

I enjoyed my museum visit. Although it needs a few improvements, it is definitely something I loves visiting and would definitely support while I am living here. The Mediterranean region is littered with thousands of archeological sites and monuments dating back centuries and with Adana being the largest city in the region, it is fitting that there is a museum to showcase what treasures her rich region has to offer. AND IT'S FREE!!!!!! :-)

This is my home town but last 30 years I didn't have chance to visit the musiums and other staff. Finally last year made the trip there and visited all the interesting areas and museums. Archeology museum has more then I tought. Must seen if by anychace you will travel to adana. Don't forget that temprature my go up to 40 c degrees in summer days and will be hard to breathe so do your trip before or after summer :)

Although small and needing improvement this museum is worth the visit to see the many things here; not to mention its free! They also have bathrooms, so if you’re visiting the Mosque or Central Park it’s nice to tour during a bathroom break. The museum is two stories, but the whole second floor has been removed of artifacts. My favorite space is outside where there is more to see then inside. But their outdoor garden of artifacts allows for good photo ops with the mosque in the background. They have some sarcophaguses with intricate carvings and even one inside that is child size.

I really like this museum. I feeled like i am in a movie and visiting an old museum in Egypt. You can visit this museum to feel like in Egypt in Adana like me.
