I went there to see the Kandinski exposition and it was quite well organized and interesting. Also, the good points are: it was for free and popular.

The CCBB's in Brazil are really great places to see international artists, local emerging art, film and music. They are in stunning buildings in the downtown historic district and best of all its all free to get in. A must see while visiting Rio for sure.

After following Kandinsky around over the years, I have never seen such an exhibition like this one! You can call this KANDINSKY 101 and it is in English! The Russian State Museum flexed its artistic muscles and put up quite a glorious exhibition. It is FREE (can you believe that??) and it has so many of Kandinsky's works that show all the phases of his life...even the Russian art that inspired him. I had just been to NY to see the exhibition 'Kandinsky before Abstraction' and this Rio exhibition really killed the NY one! Do not miss the 'Walk inside a painting' booth. You put on these special glasses and you can literally walk inside one of Kandinsky's paintings (as he said everyone should do with his work)! Even if you have never heard of Kandinsky go and see this because you will most certainly be blessed with a treasure.

Beautiful building surrounded by other hisitorical places of interest. I spent the afternoon visiting an international Art Exhibition, temporary but wonderfully curated. Kandinsky. The café is fine and the building has several other exhibitions. It´s a good idea to check it out.

The building is beautiful, always great exhibitions going on, permanent ones are also very good. Theaters, a cafe and a book store. I visit CCBB since I was a teenager... So, about 20 years have passed and it keeps being part of my cultural itinerary.

A good place to visit. Beautiful building. Good exhibits. Near other attractions for those who enjoy art. Other museums quite close. Good restaurants, too. A different view of the city known for its natural beauties but with many other assets! There is a visit to Ilha Fiscal (an island where our emperor gave his last party!!!) that you can cross to on a ferryboat. Good location for other visits.

The Brazilian Bank Culture Center is one of the best places in Rio for the lovers of Arts in all its forms. The CCBB (as it’s often called by locals) is located in Rio’s downtown in a beautiful historic building., two minutes away from other attractions such as the Candelaria Church and the Telles Arch. Entrance is free, and you will be able to find a series of art exhibitions (paintings, sculptures, photography, art experiments) as well as plays, movies, performances and many other things going on. Besides their own permanent “the history of money” exhibition, a library, a series of study rooms, a media center and a couple of theaters, the CCBB has also a good bookshop (Livraria da Travessa) and a very charming café/restaurant. Definitely a must visit!

its always interesting to see how cities modernize their historical buildings. It was such a surprised when my friend and I walked in

The large marble hall is great to take a rest, rehydrate or even eat something at the cafeteria, have a look in Livraria da Travessa ( pitty that this one has only Portughese books). Plus the Centro is close to a Tourist Information Office.

They just opened up a Kandinsky show, which is very good. On the down side, not many known paintings, but very good to know the origins of the artist.

In an old yet totally renovated building of 1880, it offers the most interesting exhibits in Brazil. The building itself deserves a visit in its own right. In addition to the varied exhibits, there's the additional feature of being located in the middle of the old Rio de Janeiro, with constructions as old - or older - than the center, with narrow streets filled with bars and restaurants. Right across from the center are the Royal Palace and a set of various churches.
