Yambuk lake is not spectacular and when you arrive you see a tiny slide and a child's playground and you may feel let down. Be surprised, the big slide is round the bend to the left, opposite the boat ramp. It is so much fun, not only for young ones but even for seniors(the young at heart), especially when there are no school kids around watching and fighting for their turn on this slide. We learn too that jeans are not the best attire to wear on slides, not slippery, you get stuck! Climbing the stairs is a bot harsh for senior knees but well worth the exhilarating journey down, relive your childhood!

Yambuk Lake is a coastal area in Western Victoria between Port Fairy and Portland where the fresh water lake empties into the sea and right next to it is this enormous slippery slide which all the family will love. If it's hot remember to put something under your backside to prevent getting a burnt bum but apart from that enjoy this wonderful free attraction. The playground around the slide area is also fun for little children and a short walk over the dunes will put you on the beach. Well worth the trip down the road off the Princes Highway just sout east of the village of Yambuk. There is also a well patronised caravan park / campground right next to the slide area for some affordable accommodation.

Slide was fun for both kids and adults and the views from the top were spectacular. Not so nice was the litter that was surrounding the area despite bins being provided and the hot surface after the sun has been shining for a few hours...nice picnic area available and fishing popular from the jetties.

This is a slide built on the sandhills at Lake Yambuk about 15km from Port Fairy. Free activity for kids, who were all having a ball. Need to be fit to climb up to the top and good idea to bring a flattened cardboard box or sack to slide on. We came here to go kayaking on Lake Yambuk and were launching from the boat ramp at the nice little picnic area and playground next to the slide. Beautiful area and we could paddle up the lake to view the majestic wind turbines at the Codrington Wind Farm. Also plenty of bird life.

Took my son and his family to enjoy what I had done as a child. Although it seems smaller than we were kids it is a quick climb up to the top and you are whizzing down the the slide. We had a laugh.

Great area to visit. Kids (even grown-up ones!) can test them selves on the slide. People were using box cardboard or shade cloth. Shade cloth worked best for us. The steps that take you to the top of the slide also offer a great view of the area. There's a fishing barge to try your luck in the river. Walk down to the beach for a stroll. Please read the signs. This is not a swimming beach. Best to get your feet wet instead.

We recently spent our summer holiday in Port Fairy. For an afternoon we headed to the Yambuk Slide and it was fantastic. Our kids (6 & 4) spent a couple of hours going down this slide. Even my husband loved having a go.The beach and lakes at Yambuk are also great, beautiful views along the coast line.

not as slippery as it used to be but great fun for the whole family. Not supposed to take cardboard but you need it to slide fast.

We camped here for ten days over Summer and came back relaxed, bronzed and healthy. The walks are challenging but great and the view of the Lake, Rivers and Beach are amazing. The slide is so much fun, although it would be great if people picked up their rubbish. The amenities at the caravan park are clean and fantastic, the visitors from all over the world are a real treat - best of all for us is that you can bring your dogs all year round. The view of Julia Percy Island is amazing and the Yambuk pub does sensational meals every day - we really didn't want to leave. The pontoons and fishing facilities for all abilities are just great, even if you don't fish it's so much fun watching everyone else. Looking forward to January 2013.
