This exhibit is one that you can take your time and look around at your leisure whilst learning so much about Yesteryear, from well informed historians dressed in periodical clothes to make your day very authentic...You can watch the Blacksmith, the Wood-turner, or any other style of trade or farming procedures done in the ways of many years ago... There was no Milk in bottle or cardboard then, and the bread was made by the flour the farmer had grown, harvested and ground, so the bread could be made and that was after he had gone and found the wood to light the fire, to heat the oven to bake the bread....Maybe a damper is your style instead of bread..... Watch, listen and learn how it was done many years ago...People want to know about History and now the Local schools have put this wonderful Village on its" want to list"

Great place if you're interested in history. Buildings and exhibits were well cared for and displayed. Staff friendly but unfortunately no cafe. Well worth a visit.

Steep yourself in the History of Hervey Bay, it's demonstrations of how we lived in years gone by. Interesting displays and commentary.

Worth a visit you have to look to find the hidden gems but are lovely way to kill a few hours only I know this place survives on donation for entry but at $10per person we thought it was a bit expensive

First glance looks a little twee, but there are lots of little gems in here if you look. The historic buildings are great and given that I assume these guys survive on entry fee and donations alone, they've done a great job. Good for a visit.

If you love history or seeing how things were in the past, this village is definitely worth a visit. I knew I would enjoy it, but wife doesn't hold a lot of interest in history in general and she enjoyed it as well. The volunteers are friendly. Not everything is going to be for everybody but I think there's something for everyone. My wife really enjoyed the country house from the 1800's in particular, and also the old convenience store.

This site was recommended by my Aunt, so I took myself and 3 highly active kids (10,8 & 5yo) to have a look. We had a fantastic time. We were lucky enough to go a Sunday and so the kids got to experience making a rope and watching how wood turning and making goblets was achieved back before engines and motors were used. They found it fascinating and loved the hands on approach. The volunteers were absolutely wonderful and so generous with their time, knowledge and patience. The kids had a ball on the "toys and games" of olden times. These activities involved the whole family and was just magic. I would highly recommend this site as a must do and see. The volunteers are simply awesome and worth their weight in gold. The educational value is second to none and learning has never been so fun or easy. Do yourself a favour and go and see. Thanks again to all the staff, you made our day!!!

We called in here one afternoon, during the week, on our visit to Hervey Bay. The lady on the counter, who was originally from Yorkshire, was so lovely, we had such a lovely chat with her.The Village itself was great, so well presented and maintained, some of the items in the buildings brought back some great memories.Because we were there during the week, there weren't any demonstrations, which was a shame that we missed them, as I understand they are very good to see, but all the same, our two boys were very intrigued by the things they saw and also quite amused at some.Definitely somewhere to visit whilst visiting Hervey Bay.

My wife, her sister and I visited the historic village while on holiday in Hervey Bay. It was great to see such a quality site given the limited number of volunteers and resources available. For a first time visitor to Hervey Bay, I would highly recommend a visit to the village if you want to know the history of the area.

Takes you back in time. Amazing equipment, buildings, everyday items and knick knacks. I real eye opener.

A pleasant place to take generations of the family along to explore the heritage of the area. The guides are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The whole family enjoyed the experience. We watched and participated in demonstrations for blacksmithing, wood turning and rope making. There's an awesome pair of knot boards on display and ever so much information on any number of topics. Many thanks to the volunteers that contributed to our day, and for all of their great work and dedication. It's a credit to the community.

We had an awesome time learning about the local history in the area. It's going to be a great place to take pics for our wedding later this year. The church, dairy and pigsty are perfect for vintage shots!

From the front it's decieving how big the place is. Well keep and outstanding displays. A real credit to the volunteers. We spent 2 hours watching demomstrations and going through the displays. A must to do at harvey bay.

A must see shows the History of Hervey Bay and its surrounds opening hours could be improved but as its a volunteer run museum its hard to get volunteers...the actual skill shows put on are very enlightening on how things used to b e done

This is an interesting place, allow some time for the visit unless you are not into old / historical things then this is not for you. I learned to make rope using an 100 years old machine which you had to turn the handle. Learned about the ropes on the sailing ships, how they were made etc. I found this place very interesting. It is run with volunteers and not opened in the morning only after 1 pm.
