As a history enthusiast, I found this tour to be a remarkable experience. To discover the American airbase and its various remaining features was great.During WWII, Charleville airport was a US airbase (Long Range Bombers), and the highlight building was the vault to store the TOP SECRET Norden Bombsights. It actually contains a genuine example, and we were privileged to be allowed to examine it!

Wow we were blown away by our tour telling the story of Charleville during WW2. Who knew that 3,500 USA troops were there. We did not until last week. The complex was mind blowing in size and the secret of the Nordon Bomb Sight unreal history so secret. . Well done Jane our guide. So interesting and so good. More and more history of the war effort is being uncovered. Go with Jane..Listen..learn of our past history and enjoy. We were amazed. Great work

This was one of the most unusual activities we visited. The guide showed us sites and told stories about a part of Australian history that I knew nothing about. Our convoy of cars travelled around the area to inspect places where American soldier had be based during the war.

This tour is fantastic, a real eye opener. I wont reveal the secrets, but a must do whilst in Charleville. Opened our eyes to the history of this area and of Australia. Wonderful, and to think all this could have been lost if it wasn't for a building that could not be destroyed. Great work Jane, such passion and enthusiasm for your town and the history showed through. Great guide. take a tour to hear the stories and the history!!

A great informative tour with Monique. Great to see how the American airmen lived during the second world war and the buildings they once used.

We didn't know about the Norden Bomb-Sight until this tour and that was very interesting, but its a shame more of the ruins (especially the baths) haven't been explored more.

We have spent two hours learning and experiencing secrets of WW ll US Airbase in Charleville. Much of the Airbase history is being bought back to life by dedicated volunteers. The history of this fascinating time in Australian history and some the personnel stories of those men, women and children were told by our guide Monique. The tour is a must do on a list of things to see and do in Charleville.

Our conference group enjoyed immensely Monique walking them through a time in Charleville's history they hadn't been aware of. Her obvious attention to detail in her research and her local knowledge didn't go unnoticed. The Norton Bomb Vault was a particular favourite.

We took this tour a fortnight ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved hearing about the history of the base itself and the 'archeology' that is happening by the 'Time Team' out there as they try to find out more about what went on - in a bit of a race against time as those who were there are now quite aged. It is wonderful that the interest is there to find the relics and the history of a such a 'top secret' place. The convoy was an interesting way to do this tour.

We took the convoy tour on Monday 19th May. We would highly recommend it. Monique our tour guide was something very special, fun (so much fun), informative & was able to answer any questions fired at her. It's quite amazing to think of a US airbase being situated in a small community. I found it fascinating how the folk who found the site, we're able to work out what each area was. Thanks Monique, we really enjoyed your commentary & wonderful sense of humor. Tom & Chris
