The mill is a must visit destination if you have time to explore in Uralla. Beautifully restored by local volunteers, who also act as guides, change exhibitions and even make the property available for private functions arranging catering etc. All to enable the high standard of maintenance and restoration to continue.

Although the museum wasn't on our original plan whilst in Uralla, but a cold, wet morning changed our plans and we were glad it did. The mill is set up in the old flour mill and adjacent shed and was an interesting mix. The paintings on the first floor told the story of bushranger Thunderbolt with commentary of his last stand. There were other displays on other floors highlighting the Aboriginal inhabitants, the Chinese miners and a number of other people from the area. The side shed displayed historical artifact of the area. The volunteers were friendly and helpful and the log fire was welcome. Worth the visit while in the area.

We first visited this place ten years ago on a trip to Sydney. This year we stopped again and our memories proved not to be rose tinted. The staff running this place were helpful and informative. The displays are varied and imaginative. Humour in embedded (check out the sports display). When you've finished pop round to the tea rooms on the next corner (Trina's I think) for yummy cakes and coffee.

The museum presents a range of exhibits on the history and some of the notable historical figures of the area. There is a very good exhibit about Thunderbolt, including a series of paintings depicting the events the last day of his life.
