Clean and well maintained, safe, scenic and historical, don't just drive by. It's not far from town and then you can stop at the Royal Tahitian Hotel and have a drink and watch the sun setting over Moorea.

The tomb is located behind a church which has its own car park . It's by a beach with showers but beyond the land belong to the parish and further out is the private area for the French army and navy recreational seafront. What you see is what you get ! Nothing else - Perhaps the only king's who's tomb is decorated with a big bottle of booze above - Very sad for the story . A single signpost from the road. Parking is free - It's a two minute stop - don't worry if you miss it !

Look out for this modest monument beside the coastal road. It is 6km out from Papeete just before you reach the Radisson Resort, on the way to Point Venus.

Sadly the Tomb is now very over grown with scrubs and trees. But for historical reasons we made a stop here as we toured the island. If you go at the weekend it is a busy location for locals. There was more going on around the area which made it more interesting. There is a small beach for swimming or snorkling and nice grass to sit and picnic. Parking was free and pretty easy. Make sure you know where to turn off the main street as the signpost gives you very little warning!

The Pomare family ruled Tahiti and the surrounding islands for almost a hundred years, from unification of the islands in 1788 to France’s acquisition in 1880. Forced to abdicate, Pomare V died from alcoholism and is buried in a coral-decorated tomb located by the ocean. Evidently the remains of Queen Pomare IV were exhumed to make room for the last in the dynasty to rest here. This was a bit of a disappointment for a couple reasons. First, I found it almost impossible to find and spent almost half an hour traveling back and forth on the main island road before I saw the sign to turn. Second, there is nothing of note here aside from the tomb itself. Most other places I saw in Tahiti (including a rarely visited Pomare cemetery down the road from this) had at least a brief explanation of the site and history behind it. The craftsmanship of the tomb was good enough, but the effort and time expended to appreciate it was not worth the effort. More frustration than appreciation with this one…

The tomb itself was interesting, made of coral. Lovely view of the sea and a cool breeze- we had a delightful picnic under a shade tree overlooking the beach.

Not interesting to see ,the vegetation covers more and more the monument. It's really not interesting to surch this place.

do not go to visit traditional Moaris places without a guide or you will miss most of the interest of the place

An old tomb where the last king of Tahiti was buried, not much to see...
