Saw all kinds of dog parks off of the Calgary trail systems, which are extensive. Wide open spaces to run

The best way to see Calgary. My personal favourites are: walking along the pathway between Fort Calgary and Crowchild Trail; roller blading in a big loop from the Calgary Zoo to Edworthy Park (you can cross to the other side at various locations) and back; bicycling the same loop, or even longer loops.

Wonderful walking and biking paths, that weave through the whole city. Often the winter pathways are even better than our winter streets!

City staff keep the main pathways open all season, with very prompt plowing and sweeping. It makes winter cycling commuting much easier and encourages a more cycle friendly city. In the summer, the separate paths for walkers vs cyclist are great, but in congested areas, you do need to be aware of your surroundings. Sometimes, a walking stick is a good idea for a few of my fellow cyclists that seem to think they are in the Tour d'France, and are in-capable of slowing down in crowded areas. a stick through the spokes might slow them down.

The city lives on the river pathways! Walking, running, biking, rollerblading, dog walking,exploring....they offer great experiences at any time of day! Art exhibits, yoga classes, opera, buskers, food, dancing- don't miss this! You're never alone- even in bad weather!

This is the best planned city I have lived in. The green space and pathways are fantastic. Kelowna should study this.

I love to roadbike and run and we live downtown so most of the river pathways are steps from our door. They are always plowed by the city and are only sometimes icy when weather beats out the cleaning crew! Most of my colleagues that live in the suburbs use the bike paths to commute to work! Go Green Calgary!

Loved the pathways all along the river, very nice near down town. The are paved and heavily used by all sorts of locals and visitors to the city alike. Fun way to view the city and get some exercise.

The pathways are good.. they get you into the city but in the winters they could use more care for icing. i find the path ways get icy very quickly and are not deiced in a timely manner.

We visited Calgary for a late afternoon stroll and early dinner and I was impressed by the city and the walks around. It was easy navigation through the city and once we hit the park walk it was a truly pleasant afternoon spent walking around and taking the sites in. While there is some construction in some areas there were plenty of runners, bike riders and people walking around and I thought it was very well planned.

We used a couple of sections when out bird watching. The main walking area was well kept and the lesser used areas felt very natural, which was nice.

Calgary pathway system is second to none. It is probably the longest pathway system in North America and getting longer all the time. They keep it well maintained.

It's great for walking and cyclists. The system is quite extensive around the city. I love walking up into Nose Hill Park with my dog, The path takes us all the way through to the other side of the city.

I was in Calgary in October 2014 and the leaves were just turning yellow. Therefore it was an amazing experience to walk around the Pathway System. Most of the time it's flat and you can walk around the city in a nice surrounding, away from traffic. Walk along the Bow river or just relax on a park bench. It's worth it!
