Port Colborne is a quaint and friendly little city with a lot of friendly citizens. It has a lot of character and spice and variety in restaurants. Watching the ship go through the canal is always amazing.

A short little walk right by the canal, that gives you a great view of the passing ships and the drawbridge, with plenty of restaurants and shops along the way.If you want to see and buy candies from your childhood, make sure to pop in to the Candy Safari shop...very cool.

Being from the Prairies, it was a treat to be able to watch the bridge go up and stand along the railing while watching the ships pass through.

Port Promenade is a lovely walkway along Historic West Street that parallels the Welland Canal. It could use more garbage containers, but overall a great place for a walk on a warm sunny day. IT's also the place to be during Canal Days on the first weekend of August each year. Many tall ships are berthed next to the Promenade at that time.

Great place to wander around on the Canal Days Weekend, and at any other time. Busy place with lots of vendors, food. Three tall ships were in along with a Coast Guard patrol boat. And, when an ocean going ship passed through the canal, watch and wait for the lift bridge to go up and down. All great for kids and kid-like adults.

Very nice to view. Definitely something to see. There isn't anything I disliked about it. Great in any weather

The Promenade was rebuilt a few years ago and is a wonderful place to walk, roller blade or ride a bike.Located next to the Welland Canal and starting at the Clarence Street Bridge, there are lots of park benches to enjoy an afternoon or evening watching the ships pass by.I love to pop into Minor's Fisheries for English Style Fish & Chips (even wrapped in newspaper like in the UK) and walk over to the promenade to eat it while on one of the benches. When I'm not feeling like fish, a walk up the promenade to the candy shop at the trendy West Street boutique district will see me walking out with ice cream on a hot summer day/evening.There is lots of free on street parking in the area although the street is closed during the first weekend of August for the annual Canal Days Marine Festival and the promenade is packed with tourists! Even so, there are all kinds of tall ships tied up on the lock wall during the festival. The only thing missing that really should be there are public washrooms. The local restaurants don't appreciate walk in traffic to use their facilities, and rightly so!

A very relaxing walk in good weather with ships of the world passing through. Sometimes Coast Guard, fishing boats, cabin cruisers, sailboats, and others are tied up along the wall waiting for passage through. Although we live here it's still very interesting watching the activity on a "working waterway".
