You need 4 wheel drive to get here, but it's worth the effort. Very good snorkeling, and a fabulous beach. The drive is no problem if you have 4WD and the road comes right next to the beach so bring all the coolers and gear you want. There is some shade, but not a lot.

This was our first trip to snorkel Little Lameshur Beach. After a very rough ride to the end of the road, we got to the beach and had it almost to ourselves for most of the day. The snorkeling was good after a long swim out to Yawzi Point up the left side of the bay. Lots of interesting coral and fish, some of the best we've seen while snorkeling from a beach vs. a boat trip. We enjoyed the beach so mush we visited it a second time, just to hang out. The bay is beautiful, and it's nice to have so few others on the beach. The other benefit is if you go on any day other than Sunday or Monday, Tourist Trap is a great outdoor restaurant stop closely on the way back into Coral Bay.

Tough drive even with 4 wheel Jeep. Less crowded and no tour groups. Beach a little rocky. Most secluded beach we visited. Fairly good snorkeling and good shade available.

Was amazingly crowded on a Sunday considering how bad the road is getting there. Cool ruins at west end of beach (up a bit) by trailhead. Beach was nice, snorkeling was average. Best part was our pit stop at the VIERS. Tektite museum was interesting.

Turtles, a field of conch! The snorkling was great, the water is an amazing color. I really appreciated the turtle that let us follow her for almost 15 minutes! We never stayed to read but bring a chair.

This is one of the prettiest beaches I have visited (much nicer than the highly praised Megans Beach on St. Thomas). It is remote enough that there are very few people with whom to share the beach, and there is good snorkeling not far from the beach on the left side for those who are not strong swimmers. The last mile of the road to get there is more pot hole than road, and needs to be carefully navigated, ideally in a 4-wheel drive vehicle. The beach is about a 45 minute drive from Cruz.

We Liked everything about it. remote and special. The drive to this side of the island is spectacular.

You can only access this beach by hiking to it or if you rent a jeep. It is a beautiful beach with crystal clear water. Not many people and boats. There is a place for bathroom/changing but not very nice. We hiked there it is was well worth it!

I love this bay! It may take a while to get to if you are stay around the cruz bay area but definitely worth making a day trip out to. The snorkeling around the big rock is some of the best. There is usually some really big fish out there too.

Road to get in requires 4 wheel drive. Last 100 yards of road especially - road covered in mid tire deep water, and large craters. Beach was nice and quiet - maybe 30 or so people at peak time. Snorkeling was ok. Saw rays and a good assortment of tropical fish. Reef/rocks on east side were cool, but nothing extraordinary. Large school of fish being pursued by several larger fish provided great entertainment and a good size barracuda added to the excitement. A good stop for a quiet day.

part way out is a reef just filled with all life. Even seen deer there. The road back is a little tricky, Be nice if st john could put a load of gravel in the huge ruts. But well worth the adventureIts also on far side of the island so lil road trip

Little Lamsur has some of the best snorkeling on STJ, especially on the east side of the bay, all the way out to the point. It's a longish snorkel, but well worth it. Rays and turtles in the grassy center...for a bit of pre-lunch exercise, hike up and down the Bordeaux Mountain Trail to work up an appetite...

After four years of coming here we discovered the gem that is Little Lameshur. The drive is a little bumpy and requires a Jeep. The water is calm and sometimes filled with rays. The snorkeling is great and the sugar ruins are beautiful.

Every visit to St. John I always pack a lunch, my snorkeling gear, camera and plenty of cold water before I drop my jeep into 4-wheel low and had for Lameshur bay! It's usually calm, private and beautiful. On the drive out you will see deer, coconut crabs and occasionally a fox. Once in the warm blue green water you will see urchins, rays, sea turtles, crabs and all sorts of fish. The walls out at the mouth of the bay can be a bit technical towards low tide and lots of fun! If I only had one day to be in and under the water, Lameshur is where I'll be!

We took our rental jeep and navigated the poor road to get here. It was one of many stops we had for the day, but if you're in the area it's fun.
