After paying the entrance fee you are allowed to go to the top of the fort where the view of the town and harbour area is outstanding. One interesting tidbit about this fort is that it has canons protecting the back of it which faces land. It was attacked from behind before. This fort also has a tunnel system. The grounds are neatly manicured and the live band playing native music at the entrance is an added special touch. I purchased the best souvenirs at the vendor stalls here. Spice and nutmeg baskets which came in sets of 6. I wish that I had purchased more of them.

One of the things I love about Grenada is finding the beauty in what has been lost. Fort Frederick and Mathew are two historic sites that are really lost. For those used to the way we keep our old forts in Canada and the US, you may be disappointed because these forts are falling apart. But there is a lot of beauty in that too. Plus the views of the city are second to none.

Had a very interesting visit to the fort, with a lovely knowledgeable guide. Fabulous views from the top

I enjoyed this place because it has a great view and interesting history. The place is clean and there is a small group of locals playing music.

fort Fredrick is included on half day tours and provides a wonderful view of the city. The guides can tell you what all the buildings are for. Lots of history can be seen from this spot. You can see the fort that the US Bombed accidentally and the mental hospital the US built to replace the one that was bombed. Grenadians are very friendly and proud to show their country

Our tour guide "Alice in Wonderland" gave us some great background information of the island. She was very energetic and it was wonderful listening to the insight she gave us on the Fort and the island of Grenada. Spectacular views of both the Caribbean and the Atlantic!

Go for the view and if you can get Alice as your tour guide even better. She speaks about herself in the third person and is amusing and informative. Anyway this is the place for your photo ops.

Fort Frederick is one of the oldest structures on the island of Grenada, built in the 1600s. The original limestone structure is still standing, and the views are AMAZING. From here, you can see almost half the island. A wonderful experience.

This was part of the half day island trip and one of the sections along the way. Well worth a visit to hear the history from the tour guide. Great views from there so anyone wanting photos will not be unhappy.

Fort Frederick holds great historical significance for Grenada in the struggles between the French and British for ownership of this island. The Fort offers fantastic views of the capital city, St. Georges, the countryside, and the carenage. cultural stop in Grenada. We also enjoy a cultural treat of steel pan music.

We did a tour to the fort and then St. George's and the spice market. It was fun; definitely worth taking a morning to see some of the sights on the island.

Worth the visit. Regular guides not there on Sundays. Avoid busy time in town when cruise ships in port.

Alice showed us around the fort and gave us some of the history, she was a real character, I found the trip very informative and interesting.

This site was very interested except for the gym at the top of the building. Needs some upgrading also.
