As an American art historian, visiting this museum is incredible. You can't see this art in the States, and most of it is nearly impossible to find on the internet. The museum has a beautiful collection of work by Wifredo Lam, an international favorite ("The Cuban Picasso"), and many prominent Cuban artists like Tomás Sánchez, Fidelio Ponce de León, Víctor Manuel, and Servando Cabrera Moreno (in addition to the many others I didn't know before!). If you have any interest in art, this museum is an absolute must. It's breath-taking.

Very impressive collection of 1890's to 1930's Cuban Modern Art...really impactful! It is a World Caliber museum up to Western standards...

Having being very bored in some of the other museums in Havana, this was a refreshing change. The building is modern, well designed and the art - all of which is Cuban - is well hung and very varied. It was a pleasure to visit. The cafeteria is also better than most others.

While the International museum has some interesting paintings, for us one of the highlights of our time in Havana was the exhibition of Cuban work in the other museum, near the Museum of the Revolution. Excellent display of contemporary Cuban art. The building itself is worth the visit. Be sure to check out the shop which has excellent reproductions for 2-4 CUCs.

Nice collection of Cuban artists. Period pieces from several undred years ago up yo recent works. Presented in a nice clean attractive facility. Our guide was arraigned by our tour but he was knowledgable, friendly, and full of information.

This modern building houses Cuban art from the colonial period until present day. The museum is well organized. Start at the top if interested in viewing the art from colonial times to modern times with a historical prospective. The viewer will walk though history both artistically and socially.Personally I found the collections from colonial times and the thirties to be of the most interest, but there will be some thing to suit all tastes. I do not know if a guide service is available for other tourists as we were on a tour, but if such a service exists it might be worth looking into if one is not familiar with the history of Cuba or its` art. There is a small gift shop, but the post card selection is limited, though there is a good selection of art books. For us this is definitely a place to go back to.

Set aside some time for this museum. Their collection covers quite a span - from the colonial era until today. There is a small museum gift shop. Photography is limited. The museum closes at 17:00. Try to get a tour with either Omar or Danella.

I had been wanting to see the Wifredo Lam paintings at the Bellas Artes but saw so much more. This was a group visit so could not stay as long as I would have liked, but we were able to see the breadth and scope of this great collection. The docent who led us was excellent. I was pleased to see the good climate control, to fidn they have a conservation lab, and to be able to buy a catalog in their bookstore. Just not enough time!

The museum holds the collections of modern, mid-century and artists of old. The museum is pretty low-key; you'll see some gallery staff falling asleep in their chairs because of the silence in the rooms, which is sort of nice when you go to really "see" the paintings. The contemporary art blew me away from the minute I walked into the gallery. Such talent and you can "read" the history through the artists brush strokes. Its a very intense experience if you are really looking and feeling what is in front of you. On the other hand you could stroll through pretty quickly and get the gist of the work too.Everyone gets a little over the top saturated from cathedrals and museums, but I would say this is a really great display of Cuban artists from a vast span of time. Great way to spend time in Havana.

What a wonderful museum. Modern structure with great Cuban Artists. We had a tour which helped us understand the different periods of Cuban life thru art. It was fabulous. I don't usually spend lots of time in a museum but wanted to stay even longer than the planned time with the People to People program I was with.

The founder of the Museum was our tour guide. Could have spent many more hours here. Multi level floors.

Well displayed collection of old and modern Cuban/Spanish painters. Great collection of Wilfredo Lam.

Two buildings to this museum. The old building is home to various work collection but the new building is home to Cuban painters or foreign painters who lived in Cuba. This for us was better than the older building. 8 CUC for both of 5 CUC each. Can only be visited on the same day. Unfortunately, the museum shop does not have much ...

This gallery is well worth visiting. It showcases Cuban art throughout the centuries. It is curated with all the artist's work together and not in 'types of art' or 'periods of art' which makes it interesting. You can see the evolvement of the artist's work over his career. There is a terrific map of the world made up of little blocks in the shape of Cuba and a great house made of coffee pots in the ground floor plaza.
